I think she'll play, not only for marketing purposes for the tournament, but for her to have a title next year since she struggles in bigger events.

Now you're being a little rude . If healthy , I could bet that 1-2 titles can come before Bucharest, no doubt.

Re: Bucharest Open 2014

You know what struggles means, right? Sure she could win but she also might not

All the top players (maybe except Serena or the vile russian) should play and try to win one MM pro year. Even a small title can make wonders for their confidence

Re: Bucharest Open 2014

So... is there any logical reason why they didn't move to take the place of the now defunct portuguese Open??

Maybe it's too late or maybe they didn't apply for that or they were denied. Some say that it depends on the influence of the tournament director as well. For the ATP tournament it took a while to be moved in the spring ....

Even so, tomorrow the Shenzhen list comes out and it's definitely too late. Halep is already on the Entry List and posters and if that would happen, the Shenzhen withdrawal reason would have to be a very good one to not get sanctioned by the WTA (cause fines there will be anyway, regardless of the reason) and to be able to play an eventual spring Bucharest Open.
