I know what you mean, but the mental part is the toughest and she doesnt fight anymore.
Sharapova-Stosur match was a good example. These tournaments come down to a few key points and cant make unforced errors early in the points.
Caroline used to make her opponents beat her with 3 hours of good tennis.
Now you dont have to play well to beat Caroline

Well, to be fair, in recent months she HAS been fighting imo (forget about the Wickmayer match, that one doesn't count). It will be interesting to see what happens next. Marineblue has made some intelligent remarks in that regard. Hoping and keeping our fingers crossed is all we can do right now.

I have to say that I'm very impressed with the way Caroline has handled the breakup and I think that's a very good sign for her career. I'm hopeful that she'll come back strong and get back near the top of the game soon without the Rory distraction.

I think she is capable of playing with all these players who are still alive in Paris.
But us saying it, is not her doing it. She has to compete better and smarter.

JJ is proficient at the net and nobody has a drop shot as good as Errani's according to Chris Evert.

Darren Cahill just called this loud group of JJ supporters during her match against Cirstea a bunch of bozos.

Re: Womens Tennis in General, vol. 2

I kind of think that Sharapova is the only one remaining in the tournament that can beat Errani. The others don't have the consistency off the ground or the power to hit through her on the red clay.

Halep can beat her.

I'm not convinced that she has enough power though. It's just so hard to put the ball away against Errani on red clay. Plus it's very difficult to out-steady her/out-defend her.

It's interesting that 5 out of the 8 quarterfinalists are "youngsters". Kuznetsova is the oldest quarterfinalist and she's soon to be 29 years old.

So disgusted by the mental midgetry/choking/imploding of the field against Sharapova . Sharapova's success on clay this season has been mainly been due to mental toughness not good play.

She's gonna bs her way to a slam.

Re: Womens Tennis in General, vol. 2

This final reminds me of Caroline's slam final, because Halep is already up to #3 and might get to #1 if Serena continues to slump.
If Caro won that one match, she would never have heard all the "slamless #1" talk.
This is a big match for Halep, because you dont play in a slam final that often.

Only goes to show what you can achieve when you have heart, don't it? That girl just refuses to lose. But I think that Halep has a 50% chance of winning. She's very, very good.

Sort of. But Halep has risen further than Caro 2009 had then. I don't think anyone was thinking that Caro would win against Kim then. Whereas it's pretty split who is tipping Masha to win and who is tipping Halep to win.

I really want Halep to win. But I just have that feeling that it's going to be Masha.
