Well done to Nastya who is into R2 in Nurnberg after fighting through qualifying. It's her first WTA win since Feb 2013 and first time winning 4 matches in a row since US Open 2012. She'll sneak back into the top 200 now (but probably short-lived as she has Q3 French Open coming off the following week).
But still, great to see her get a decent singles result!
A-Rod has always played well in NYC, she's qualified 3 times now at US Open and made the 3rd round twice and 2nd round 4 times. Would love to see her cause an upset in 2nd round, like she did a few years ago beating Lisicki!
Oh wow! I suppose that's good for AUS and for Arina. Arina did well to establish herself as a top 100 player this year so they should be a decent team. I feel bad for Alla though and Nastya won't be seeded in doubles much without Alla. I suppose another good thing is that Arina and Nastya's singles rankings are similar so they can hopefully build a calendar that caters for both their singles and doubles. (Alla is top 100 in singles now).
