The point of interviews/press conferences is to gather information and to get the point of view of the players in question. If they would only be allowed to walk on egg shells and give the PC answers under all circumstances they could just as well send a cassette with all of the standard answers to the always the same questions that they get. In fact, 99% of all interviews with tennis players are pointless exactly because of that problem. I know for example exactly what questions will be asked at a press conference with Wozniacki and I know exactly (almost word for word) what her answers to those questions will be. She's sweet and nice, gives credit to her opponents, etc. But do we learn anything at all about what's going on in her mind and what she's REALLY thinking? I don't think so.

Besides, each player looks at a match from her own perspective. Maria takes nothing away from Ana. She says that Ana played very well and that her own energy levels were not the best......probably because they indeed were not the best. It's her honest opinion. If players are not allowed to give their honest opinion they should just limit themselves to saying "congrats" and leave it at that.

Novak appeared to be feeling some wrist pain a couple of times in the Milos match. If that was the case then he best withdraw from the final, but that would be a pretty big disappointment.
