Re: Ashleigh Barty

I would rather see her err on the side of caution and make sure the injury is healed rather than it continually flare up for the rest of the year. She has certainly done enough this week to deserve the WC for DE to the AO.

Yes, her and Jason Stoltenberg were even comtemplating trying to play today so it mustn't be too bad, so hopefully she should be right for the AO.

I was thinking about this as well. It's always a big adjustment to transition into seniors - must put a lot of strain on the body to be playing singles and doubles week in week out. It will be interesting to see how her and Casey organise their schedules.

Hard to say today, this was her first tournament in 3 months . Could have happen during training ...

Yep the body probably just wasn't ready for 5 matches in 5 days after such a long layout even if she worked hard physically during the break.

Both her and Storm have really beefed up their serves the last couple of months and both have suffered similar injuries. Young bodies just adapting to the rigours of the tour.

Her service games have been far more convincing, but im not sure if she has beefed up her serve.

I think she has increased the pace of shot in the last year, hitting harder consistently from both wings and taking the ball earlier too. Not presenting her opponent with sitters as she used too.

Far far less dropshots too

Positive note from this injury, she goes into AO undefeated

Re: Ashleigh Barty

oh well nothing to lose, everything to gain at her age and stage of her career. She should go out and just enjoy the atmosphere and challenge of it all.

Then she can concentrate on the doubles for this AO at least.
