Re: Blast Encyclopedia of Female Tennis Players

Vera already had a bio. Mark's info added crucial information (like her full name) to it.

AITKIN, VERA (Vera Evelyn Rita Aitkin)
United Kingdom
Born 1881 in Dorset, England
Died [????]
Active 1910-1911

Miss Aitken was 0-2 at Wimbledon in 1910 and 1911.

Re: Blast Encyclopedia of Female Tennis Players

Added this entry. Thanks Mark. I know you sometimes help Izzy out with men's results at tennisarchives. Note my comment here about her husband, who in the Wimbledon database is identified only by his initials.

BULLOCK, CHRISTINA (nee Christina Lilian Cardwell)
United Kingdom
Born 1878 in Sussex, England
Died 5 February 1964 in Ditchling, Sussex, England
Married Herbert Somerset Bullock in 1902 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England.

She is referred to as "Mrs H.S. Bullock" in contemporary sources. Her husband played doubles at Wimbledon in 1914. Christina never competed at the Championships.

Created posts for Grant/Frere and her probable sister-in-law Mrs LC Frere.

Did not marry. Joan Retallack had a long association with the Exmouth Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club where, in addition to talking part in tournaments, she was involved in the administrative side of things. She never competed at Wimbledon.

Re: Blast Encyclopedia of Female Tennis Players

We already had an entry for Manser. Thanks for adding to it Mark. Note that I do want to clear up a minor issue with her middle name just in case there was more than one Olive Manser.

MANSER, OLIVE (Olive Braikenridge Manser)
United Kingdom
Born 1885 in Tunbridge Wells, England
Died 27 December 1965 in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, Charente-Maritime, France

Did not marry. Note we originally had Olive N Manser rather than middle name of Braikenridge. Double check this.

Wimbledon record (competed in 1910, 1912-1913, 1919-20 and 1922).
She entered all 3 events every year after 1910 and 1912, when she competed in the singles only.

Singles: 3-6
Doubles: 8-4 (Seminfinalist in 1914 with Armstrong, falling in 3 sets to Chambers/Sterry), and QF in 1919
Mixed Doubles: 3-4

Did not marry.
She never competed at Wimbledon.

It's Aitken, not Aitkin.
