Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

We guys should always keep in mind that a bilateral knee injury has already been death sentence to many sport careers in the past.

Every win against a Top 100 player even if it's not rewarded with many ranking points is a great success at this point. She must come back step by step.

yes Aaron, that's very true, but I assume that she often seems mentally fatigued a lot more than physically

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

I know she's still on recovery, but I still think she could have done better today given Medina's form (who only won 9 main draw matches this year on the WTA: 2 against Alex, of course, one against slumping Arantxa Rus, and the other 6 against lucky losers, wild cards or qualifiers!).

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Is she off until this 50k in France in 2-weeks time? Short break seems like a good idea right now.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

It's been 11 months since her 1st official comeback match.

She should have progressed more after 11 months (at least I was expecting her to be already in the Top 100 till now)

Alex pulled out today from 50K Joue-les-Tours

50K Limonges as well. I guess we'll see her in 2014.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

When she lost in Ningbo R2 I was pretty sure that it would be the last match of the year for her, although I didn't know at that time that she had entered these indoor tournaments in France.

I guess a prolonged off-season might be the best for her. Let's see what 2014 will bring for her.

, but I really think this might be best for her. More time to get back to full strength.

Big picture: Top 100? For sure, perhaps next year. Top 30? I strongly doubt it. (But I secretly wish to be wrong on the last prediction )

Hate to be one of the "I told you so" people, but after that terrible loss to Medina in Miami things were pretty clear. I admit she had some good wins with Erakovic, Garcia, Govortsova, Voskoboeva, Vekic and Lepchenko and she did a great job getting back close to top 150, but I still see 2013 as a disappointing tennis year for Alex.

Anyway, I really hope she will come back stronger, faster and better than ever in 2014. She totally deserves to get back on the top.

I am not worried about Alexandra because she is always at peace with what she does.

Alexandra's problem was that she couldn't win back to back matches to save her life. There are players who win WTA titles by beating these above, but they do so within one week and the ranking system unfortunately only rewards runs and not single victories.

The new voting system starting at 2014 will be even more rigid in this regard. I hope she can leave her physical troubles behind.

I love this expression and I guess you nailed it.

Despite all her injuries and troubles, Alexandra still comes across as the most grounded out of all our girls. She seems solid in everything she does and even if she was losing it mentally in some matches this year you always know that she gave her best and her body simply not allowed her to do more.
