Just like the day before, all the players I wanted to win actually won

I don't think that's ever happened before.

Every single match in the 4th round has gone the way I wanted

Vinci/Giorgi I was ambivalent about.

I'm so so sad for Roger. My first thoughts were its time to retire but I would be so gutted if he did. I want good Roger back even 2012 Roger would do. His game at its best is by far the most dynamic and interesting in the game. I hate seeing him lose to people he shouldnt.

Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol5

I essentially don't even care anymore how GOAT performs this year - he got his Wimby title last year and that might as well has been his swan song most likely. ATP is not women's tennis, where you can meet chokers in every single round and still win slams in your 30's - men's game is too sophisticated and complete for that. As it stands, 17 slams is still the record and he still is the most talented player to ever pick up a racquet to me

He can still play some good ball but mentally it's gone. To see him choke away all those breakpoint opportunities he had and to even see him collapse on his own serve when it got tight was heartbreaking really. He's not slowly declining at this point but going down fast. Frankly, I don't think there's much point to him going on like this. It's up to him of course, but it's like - it's kinda cool to still see Lleyton Hewitt out there giving it his all and having a good run. But Roger Federer is no Lleyton Hewitt. For him it's the top or nothing.

I actually don't quite agree. The bottom-line is Fed absolutely loves the game and is quite a student of the game. I do think that the back problem and subsequent bad results have taken a mental toll on him, and that he'd come back with stronger performances in 2014 no doubt. But even if that does not happen, I genuinely do not see him retiring so soon. Or at least I hope

Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol5

I don't want to sound like delusional fanboys who said "Oh but you'll see he'll win the next slam!" for the whole 2013, because he clearly got worse this year has been very bad and it's likely he won't win a slam anymore.
That being said, I don't like people calling him "ridiculous" (I read them on blogs and twitter) or saying that he's ruining his career by keeping playing at this point where he's not going to beat Nadal/Djokovic/Murray anymore... I respect him too much to say what he should or shouldn't do, I just can hope he will get somehow better and have some few good results again. I wouldn't mind if he plays his last years like Haas or Hewitt is playing now, they can still entertain me and make me root for them even if it's only a slam QF.
Anyway, I read earlier on twitter ( although I didn't see confirms anywhere else so I'm not sure ) that he canceled the south america tour during the off season. I may be crazy but I think it's a good thing for him, may be the sign he wants to rest a lot and practice enough (maybe with the new racquet?) for next year.
Or I'm just deluding myself.

In other OT news, I'm so so happy to see Lindsey Vonn back skiing! http://instagram.com/p/dzVcyHETjy/ I really hope to see Maria post something similar as soon as possible, I just caught up with about 10 episodes of her social channel and it made me miss her even more.

It's really really hard to be a Ana's fan. Her losses hurt a lot, much more than Maria's. I don't want to keep being her fan anymore, but I can't. WHY ANA WHY

Well, if you're a real fan like you obviously are you don't have a say in the matter. You don't choose to be a fan of someone, you just are. Ana is very good, but she can never keep it together mentally in these type of matches. That must be frustrating for a fan.

Well, I wouldn't like to see him go either. I just think that it can't be avoided if he doesn't improve because I think that his current level is not acceptable to him. So let's hope for the best and some good results for the rest of the year. I think that he played very well in the first three rounds - almost like the Federer of old in fact. But as soon as someone was able to challenge him he lost it mentally. I've never seen him choke this much in his entire career, and definitely not against a player of Robredo's level. I was shocked. Not so much because he lost but because he panicked so badly.
