I dont think Caro can worry about the money aspect.
She has to get everything right. Racket & strings, coach, schedule, style of play.
Her career is in disarray and she has to do everything she can to get better.

Re: Articles and Interviews

If this is really true and Caro got released on breach of contract, it's not a good thing. They could take all kinds of actions against her.

You'd think her camp would surely have to be aware if using a blacked out racket breached her contract though.

I hope it was a mutual split, and not Yonex releasing her, because if it was the latter, we'll likely be hearing more.

Well, the poll is YES 54% vs NO 46% ... I thought it would have been 95% yes and 5% no, so I am positively surprised ... Though there should have been a 'None of our fokking business' option.

Re: Articles and Interviews

As long as Rory is a nonfactor at every major, this stuff will keep being news.
He needs a big major, this final major of 2013. Otherwise, they're both going to hear a lot more "advice"

The World's Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2013
http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mli45...e-wozniacki-2/

#7 Caroline Wozniacki
Total earnings: $13.6 million
Prize money: $2.6 million
Endorsements: $11 million

Wozniacki kicked off a new Adidas deal this year that is one of the most lucrative in the sport. Her drop in ranking to a recent No. 10 in the world has cost her bonus money, but she still maintains a rich endorsement portfolio of 10 companies. In addition to tennis, Wozniacki stays in the headlines via her relationship with golfer Rory McIlroy.

Well, earning 5 times more in endorsements than in prize money is a mixed blessing. What is there to motivate her to do well if she still cashes in such a huge amount having not so great results.

Grand slam titles maybe. After all what does she want to be, a tennis player or a model?

Well, she was once focusing 'only on slams' and look what happened. I wish that old Caro who was chasing every title she had in reach returned. She used to really enjoy being out there competing with the best. Slams are not enough of motivation to keep her going on high level all year, it's only 4 events and there is so much more in between.

Right now it's hard to say what she wants to be more as off-court activities are bringing her so much money.

Yeah, I miss the Caro of 2010-11 also. I was looking at her form in 2011 and until this time of year, where she lost in 2 sets to Vinci & McHale, Caro had lost her 1st set only about 7 times the first half of 2011. That was about 1 time every 8 matches. Now she loses her first set half the time.
I think she cant focus anymore, similar to Jankovic, who was very tough to beat in 2007,8

Re: Articles and Interviews

I think the loss to Cibulkova at 2011 Wimbledon really took the wind out of her sails especially up a set and then up 2-0 in the third and taking her good head to head record against her. She must have lost some confidence after that match, because it showed in her form against Vinci and McHale. What I've found when in a slump of sorts is that I need my coach to help me out of it, and most times he does. I think that Caro not having a REAL tennis coach to help her through her slump hurt her greatly. Hopefully she'll get a new coach at the end of the year, and it isn't too late for the new coach to help her save her career. Good luck against Sorana, Caro!

We will never know the whole story of what happened after the loss to Cibulkova. But I agree that was a big moment. And I think Kvitova winning that major, the first of this generation to win a major, had the media saying that is the style that wins majors. Caro tried to get more aggressive with her forehand & has never been the same since then

That's because having grand slams as your goal for Caroline shouldn't mean don't care about everything else. You still have to go about it the right way, player's situations are very different, she can't afford to not care about everything else, she has to gradually work her way back up the ladder.

Winning a grand slam for Caroline is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That should be the burning desire inside of her to do the hard work she has to do to get there, but she's fallen down the ladder, so she has to work her way back up.

I don't believe this is her problem anyway. It's not like she's tanking events to prepare for grand slams. She doesn't suddenly become a different player full of desire and motivation at grand slams does she? Her problems are everywhere at every event.

All the top players are rich, they don't need to play for the money. If Caroline can't motivate herself because she has so much money, then she doesn't deserve to be a champion.

The funny part is she did try to get more aggressive with her forehand, but she couldn't break paper with her forehand against Hampton in Eastbourne. It's like the harder she tries to hit it, the less deep and penetrating it is. She tried everything, too. She's tried new coaches, new string tension, new racquet. The only thing she really hasn't tried to change is her extreme Western grip. Unfortunately, it's difficult to flatten out a Western forehand, which I think is part of her problem. People can do it, but she hasn't done it very effectively. Even so, her forehand was sizzling against Zvonereva in Beijing. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly is wrong with the stroke.
