Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

Time for this change. Masha want to beat Serena and Masha next to Serena most fighting player on earth. She will find the way or find one to help her find the way. Good decision but at these point in season??? that the only question makes me wonder the timing just now before summer hc season but you know now good time as any GL Masha. Find you way.

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

I don't think there's a chance Maria would hire someone like Hingis or Dementieva. I'm sure she has respect for them as players, but she's not going to listen to people who were peers and competitors of hers. In the back of her mind, I'm sure Maria believes she's a superior tennis player to both and wouldn't be receptive to criticism or advice from either. I think the only female Maria would respect as a coach would be Billie Jean King, but at her age, she's not exactly a candidate to do any coaching.

Should all that be attributed to Hoggy? Imo not.. Maria has something in all that aswell.

Mexicola, I agree with you!!! Her behaviour is a bit.. um.. weird.. Sugarpova left and right, WAGing more than any time previously in her life, Dimitrov this and that, not deciding to play FC not this year, neither the start of next year.. IMO she is not 80% devoted to tennis but 60%. What are exactly her plans?? Was she satisfied with the one Slam after injury??

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

LOL at all the drama and over-reaction, doubting Martha's work ethics even!!? Her business and her love life will always be part of her, but when she goes on court she gives everything, it's dumb to doubt her devotion to tennis.

This coaching change, I'm hopeful, cautious optimism is the phrase. We shall see who it is before we can make any evaluation.

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

She seems out of character to me.. I guess I do have the right to have my own opinion, no?? or what? We shall see who her next coach will be and what he'll be able to do. But knowing how she gets attached to coaches and how she had a hard time leaving Joyce and how much she praised Hoggy for giving a new spark in her, this whole news sucks... If it is due to his private reasons (which I think is), then it was inevitable and she couldn't do anything.... But.. Hoggy aside, she is in a rather bad form all year IMHO - she is scrapping through matches!
I just hope she won't steal a coach again, and I hope that also it won't be some rookie coach from that Swedish academy...

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

I do agree she's been acting out of character. Mainly the fact she's been moaning at umpires so much lately (especially that time in the 1st-round match at Wimbledon where she was complaining about Mladenovic getting a first-serve replayed or something), plus the whole debacle with Serena (although I think she was totally justified in what she said, it was still unlike her to rise to the bait).

It's just pretty strange behaviour from her considering she typically isn't a complainer and usually has such a calm/patient temperament (off the court). The only time I remember her previously being like this is back in 2008, when she kept going on all these out-of-character rants at the WTA about having to play certain tournaments or having to do photoshoots or something.....but, in retrospect, that might have been mainly because she was stressed about her shoulder. So I guess it's possible that it was the situation with Hogstedt the last few months that was stressing her and making her act strangely?

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

What if Maria just made decision to move on. Hoggy brought her stability and some tactics. She wanted RG and she got it. Hoggy did everything what he could. Maybe now her priority is to get better on fast surfaces again? And they both understood that Hoggy is more clay specialist than hard/grass...

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

Jesus christ, yes she's out of character, she doesn't care anymore for tennis, she just cares about sugarpova, photoshoots and porsche.
She better retire now even before bothering going to stanford, I mean, who cares after all? she never won anything before hogstedt and she'll never win again after him! IT'S OBVIOUS11!!!!!!11!1!!!

you made me wanna quit even this section

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

Think Masha is got so far her game can go which is pretty amazing. She got all the Slams and all the money and hall of fame for sure and still top three the world plus life going on for her with the other stuff. Who gonna build more from the game she got beyond small things here there that dont make much diff.??? one thing though is I feel that more than any other in this world Masha is wants to beat Serena again big match and I don't think anything will stop her. The only goal left for Masha if really we think about it. What? More French Opens US Opens? Maybe if Serena out of the picture or she beats Serena. She wants to wipe the smirk Serena face one last time. Trust.

Re: Maria and Thomas go seperate ways

Believe. Masha planning all her powers right this minute how to beat Serena big match. Her one mission only. You know this we all do. The moment she kick Serena ass in Slam match (IF she does this) you see Masha walk away retire very next day. Cuz Masha she is LIKE that! She will cut a bitch then walk away if she can. one last time.
