Re: Roland Garros 2013 : La reine Maria de retour dans son jardin

What a thriller this match was. I was almost dead after that 1 setbut call me mad it was her best match during this RG. She showed great tennis then, especially in 3 one. Also she proved that her mental and physical strength is capable to extremely improve during the match. It was great win, though I am so emotionally drained now. Not going to watch her match tomorrow, only just live score.
Please beat Aza, I prey you.

Re: Roland Garros 2013 : La reine Maria de retour dans son jardin

It could very well be another messy performance from Maria tomorrow. If that does happen Azarenka will run away with it.

If Maria can play a solid match I think she'll win.

I will miss the match as well

Good

I don't think I'll have the nerve to go through another match between these two.

I really, really hope it's competitive like at the USO, I'm sick of Azarenka giving Maria beatdowns on big stages

Re: Roland Garros 2013 : La reine Maria de retour dans son jardin

And I've been eagerly anticipating a Maria-Vika match all year as well. Does anyone know what time the final will be? Regardless of whether Maria gets through I don't want to have to miss that as well.

Yeah is it just me or does she start to play better when she changes back to her normal grunt. I t happened in both matches in which she was behind on the scoreboard. It's like this grunt doesn't really feel natural... I don't know.

Feel the same way.

Maria isn't wondering who she would rather lose to, she's thinking about WINNING the fucking tournament!

And I completely agree with you.

People were just discussing this just a few pages ago. I was just answering that question

Sometimes one can be pessimistic

But I'm hoping for a good match against Victoria. Apparently she looked good in her match after that shitfest of a first set against Jankovic (haven't watched it yet). Maria can definitely win this match and the whole tournament. We all know she is more than capable of doing that.

Re: Roland Garros 2013 : La reine Maria de retour dans son jardin

Despite the first set bagel, I was, probably for the first time ever as a Maria fan, 100% sure she would win the match. There was absolutely no way for her to play worse than in that first set And I was uncharacteristically still and calm during the match. Which has to do with the fact that JJ and Maria are my two faves, and I don't think I could ever choose between one of them, which is why I absolutely love and hate their matches. JJ is the reason I started watching tennis, and Maria the reason why I never stopped once I began. Anyway, Maria has been pretty much average the entire tournament, but somehow I feel like she learned from this year's AO and is getting the job done in the earlier rounds, saving her best tennis and mental toughness for when it truly matters. The only match after Australia that she really failed to deliver in was Madrid final (ain't counting Doha, as it was a pretty unimportant tourney for me as well as Maria I suspect). Anyway, to conclude, I really think when we combine all the factors in, she'll win tomorrow, or at the worst give Vika a run for her money. But there is just no way she is flopping against Vuvurenka tomorrow. Don't make me eat up my words Martha.

Oh, and about her "new" grunt. I never understood why people couldn't stand grunting that much until Maria started using this altered version. I find it disgusting. It feels so forced, like she is constantly thinking how to grunt, and of course she loses herself in those characteristic roars every time the match becomes close and she stops consciously thinking about it and rather focuses solely on her tennis. Happened against Zheng, happened again today. I just wish she would switch back to the old grunt, every time I'd hear it, it felt like a lioness fighting her heart out on the court. And this one? Bears too big of a resemblance to Vika's disgusting screams for me to deal with

Re: Roland Garros 2013 : La reine Maria de retour dans son jardin

I totally forgot about the match at first and when I checked she had set point against her in the first
I don't know why but I was certain that she woould pick up her level and she did!
I thought she played pretty well!
Bring it on against Vika

I feel the same, when did she even change it in Stuttgart right? It doesn't feel right for some reason or another, and I liked the previous one much better. Was quite shocked she's able to change it, makes even me doubt the whole 'Always did it' statement
