Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

Let's put this into context - this is only JJ's SECOND choke of the year. Compared to last year?? We should be pretty grateful. But it would've been nice to move up in the seeding bracket.

Anyway, according her seed Jelena should reach at least 3rd round without problems in Paris. Then I hope she will beat some higher ranked players and reach her well deserved final.

Eww, Eurovision was disgusting this year. the only acts I remotely liked were the Romanian falsetto Count Dracula, the gentle Viking from Iceland, and that bunch of crazy Greeks. Everyone else, including the winner, were total bores.

I hope she avoids: Sharapova, Anci, Li, Kanepi, Queen Bethanie, Cirstea, Halep, Pavlyuchenkova and probably many more I can't think of ATM.

You are really from Malta?! For some reason, I always think people put flags of tiny countries only as a joke. How's life over there?

She wasn't. In the third set, she just stood there completely beaten, exhausted and dejected, and couldn't believe her eyes what Idiotlena was doing hitting UEs left and right.

Yes, so do I but in this case my flag choice bears some relevance to myself

My family is from Malta, but I was born and raised in Melbourne There are a lot of Maltese families here, just like there are a lot of Serbs and Croats and Italians and Greeks and so on I have never been there but we always take interest in things like the Eurovision result. I plan on going soon, I have a lot of cousins to meet.

I wish there was a Maltese tennis player to support

Anyways, sorry for derailing this lovely thread. I hope the almighty empress gets the win she deserves in Paris (but only if Ana loses early )

Ah, I see! I thought you were an Australian living in Malta - I got it all wrong. I know nothing about Malta, but it must be lovely, the entire Mediterranean is lovely. And I think I've noticed Malta often had some good singers at Eurovision, but can't make any big results because it's so small and isn't a part of any bloc.
And if Serbia managed to produce a decent player or two, why not Malta as well?

I watched some highlights and I think it's safe to say Halep did not win that final set. JJnerd lost it. It was pathetic. I was "over" the loss before I saw highlights; I then saw how dumb she played. She was hitting so many errors, but so many excellently placed shots. She just cannot finish a point to save her life. It was sort of like against Lisicki in Germany. When the hell does Lisicki defend like that? NEVER.
When has Halep defended like that (and all week in Rome anyway?) NEVER.
And Jelena threw it all away

It's very concerning for RG. But she's always been a head case so I guess it isn't anything new.

I think it comes down to population. Serbia has about 10 million people right? I think Malta has only 400,000, it's a very small island It is beautiful though

How would you feel about a Serbian sisters final at RG?

Agree. All she had to do in last set was waiting for Jelena's choke. I guess she could just sit on court and wait for Jelena's errors.

I'm glad I stopped watching this shit after 1st set. I was sure that after she won 1st set she's going to win 2nd set easily cause Simona looked tired, injured and weaponless.
