Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

I also agree Jelena is to blame for getting distracted by that incident. It was US OPEN 2006 SF all over again.
Anyway, does anyone have Jelena's clay season schedule?

Serena's attitude just annoyed me to JJ, I'm hypocrite because I would have liked it if this happened to Azarenka

I hope another lesson learned for her.
Also JJ basically got a free first serve since she missed the original one.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

JJ is my FAVORITE player in the ladies' side of things and I am thrilled she is back in great shape and hungry again. I believe in her and I believe in her chances for this coming French Open. I watch the match, of course, and while I respect Serena ( who could not?) I do not enjoy her personally, matching as a tennis player. I think this whole "Williams sisters are the only thing keep tennis alive" is a load of crap. I never tune in specific to watch one of the sisters, never have. Henin, Clijsters, Mauresmo, Safina, JJ, Azarenka ... Those are names that would get me to watch women's tennis. I guess I like Venus, but Serena, my personal opinion, while great, is a bad sportswoman. I guess the great ones are all spoiled brats, but I like how JJ stood up to Serena's sh$t , even though it cost her the whole focus of this match. I like it. Moremofmthese women need to walk on court with their heads saying, "I will BEAT this woman" when it comes to Serena.

Only gripe I have with women tennis now is that so many girls have this head-crap and don't believe. Henin never walked on court scared of Serena. Clijsters was not scared. vaporization was not scared, way back. Hingis was not scared (until she got scared!). JJ is not scared, either. I prefer a healthy, fighting JJ to anybody on the women's game now. Hope she peaks in Paris and gets the right draw to get the Slam her talent deserves.

Ridiculous to blame Serena for Jelena's loss. Jelena should have just fucking serve her first serve again. I thought she is that mature, but I guess she still hasnt learnt.

Am I the only one not mad at Serena? I don't think Serena meant it in an evil/malicious way, she's not the type.

Jeca was correct though--server sets the pace.

I'm definitely not mad at Serena. Now let's just stop this shit. It's ridiculous to blame the match on one thing Serena said.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

We seriously can't blame Serena for this Had JJ not said anything there is a good chance she could have run away with the match. Serena was very off and that exchange did nothing except fire Serena up.

Re: Jelena Jankovic Cheering Thread - 2013 Season - Volume 14

I don't think the incident affected the outcome of the match at all. ALSO, I would like to point out that SERENA AND JJ CLEARLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE INCIDENT, given their post match interviews were incredibly kind towards each other. As fans, if our favorites don't care, why should we at all? Like someone said in GM, Serena and JJ's reaction to the incident is making a mockery out of how blown out of it us fans are making it.

I love Serena and JJ (obviously JJ is my #1), so to see a tear in the JJ fanbase right now makes me sad.

Let us move on, JJ is starting to play really well again and we should be incredibly excited for the red clay.

Neither do I, I didn't even notice anything while watching the match. If it hadn't been for this crazy forum I would still be oblivious of it.
Nor do I think it had anything to do with the outcome - we can't seriously expect Jelena to be able to just walk out on the court after a couple of years of basically being a journeywoman and beat a player who's been virtually unplayable for quite a while, and who played extremely well that day (I think this must be their best encounter so far, quality wise). I'm ecstatic at the thought Jelena pulled up such a great fight. If she's serious about her tennis again, she just needs to try to keep focus and stay on that level at the following tournaments now that she has the momentum. In 2011 she looked like she regained the momentum after some good 3 set wins, only to go back to square one soon afterwards. I just hope that's not what'll happen again.
As for Serena, I don't have a clue what she's being blamed for, I think her outbursts are totally hilarious and harmless, and this wasn't even an outburst. I think they both wanted to impose their own paces, and Jelena should have been more assertive and composed instead of getting pissed off, but I think she was just too nervous about the lead, so some kind of choking was inevitable (her not using any of the chances Serena gave her in the second).
Still, some of Serena's fans (not trolls) in the GM are really too much - the way they hate on Jelena just because they're so scared of her. Which is also awesome.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Explain.
Q. Yeah.
JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah. She has a good backhand, I have a good backhand, but it's, I don't know, difficult to explain.
Q. Like how do you think your game's different than hers?
JELENA JANKOVIC: First of all, I wait -- I don't want to give you all the what I do. (Laughs).
2

Q. Give me something, Jelena, come on.
JELENA JANKOVIC: I mean what I want to do or how I play or what I wait for or what I play, I wait for my chances, and I like to hit my shots when I have the opportunities. As for her game, she's more of -- she waits. She waits for you to make the mistakes, and she doesn't really risk. She's very solid and she'll run the balls down and she has a very small amount of forced errors and a very small amount of winners and that's what her game is all about.
And I have -- when I have my shots, when I have my chances, I pull the trigger a lot more than she does, and I go -- and I hit the lines. I go for the corners, and she's quite solid. I mean she has -- she's one of those players who has a very small risk.
Like some other players, they go for broke. They go, they really go after their shots, and she's -- that's how she plays. Everyone is different, and we all have different styles and what we like, what we don't like. We have weaknesses and strengths. We'll see how it goes. It's going to be a tough match if we play against each other

Just reading this JJ, is your last name Hingis?

Problem with Jelena is - she always speaks the truth but always at a wrong time. FIRST beat Wozniacki, THEN (rightfully) bash her game.

Thank God Hingis retired when she did, she has a 2-0 record against Karolina and can bash her all she wants. JJ's timing is always wrong. She needs to learn from Martina.
