Perhaps she changed her serve to protect the back. But this service is OK, if she have no pain with this service.

Yes she had many double faults. But she must risk more with her 2. service, because Kirilenko attack every poor 2. service successfully.

Thank you sooo much guys for the amazing atmosphere and support! I enjoyed every moment,had so much fun this week...

Ihren dritten Turniersieg auf der WTA-Tour hatte die topgesetzte Kielerin durch ein 6:4, 2:6, 4:6 im Finale gegen Anastasia Pawljutschenkowa (Russland/Nr. 5) zwar verpasst, doch die Enttäuschung war schnell verflogen.

"Das Selbstvertrauen ist da. Ich hatte eine super Woche in Monterrey. Leider hat es nicht geklappt mit dem Sieg, aber ich kann trotzdem zufrieden sein mit der USA- und Mexiko-Reise", sagte Kerber dem SID. Nach ihrer Traumsaison 2012 mit dem Sprung in die Top 10 und zwei Turniererfolgen in Paris und Kopenhagen ist die 25-Jährige längst eine der Gejagten. "Dieses Jahr ist komplett anders als das letzte", meinte sie und will sich ob des gestiegenen Drucks nicht verrückt machen lassen: "Ich lerne weiter dazu - und ich genieße es."

Kerber freut sich nach anderthalb Monaten jenseits des Atlantiks auf ein paar freie Tage zuhause. Zunächst geht es zum Ausspannen nach Polen, wo Oma und Opa eine Tennis-Anlage besitzen. Vielleicht wird dann auch das traditionelle Osteressen nachgeholt, das die Weltranglistensechste wegen ihres Aufenthalts in Monterrey verpasst hatte. "Und danach beginnt langsam das Training auf Sand", berichtete "Angie" und gab mit Blick auf ihren zu Beginn des Jahres lädierten Rücken Entwarnung: "Er hält."

Mit der Fed-Cup-Partie gegen Serbien in Stuttgart (20./21. April) und dem folgenden WTA-Turnier an gleicher Stelle (22. bis 28. April) stehen die nächsten Highlights an. Wenn Kerber beim Ausruhen in den nächsten Tagen aber noch einmal an das Endspiel im Sierra Madre Tennis-Club zurückdenkt, dann wird sich die Wimbledon-Halbfinalistin von 2012 selbst über eine 107-minütige Achterbahnfahrt bei 33 Grad Celsius wundern.

In der "Stadt der Berge" im Nordosten von Mexiko hatte die Favoritin den Auftaktsatz gewonnen, ehe sie nach dem 2:2 in zweiten Durchgang neun Spiele in Folge verlor. "Ich habe gut angefangen, aber sie kam stark zurück und hat die Bälle dann einfach gut getroffen. Ich habe bis zuletzt gekämpft. Auch als ich im dritten Satz 0:5 zurücklag", sagte Kerber, die zwischenzeitlich immer wieder frustriert den Kopf schüttelte.

Als ihr Coach Torben Beltz sie bei einem Seitenwechsel aufforderte, Pawljutschenkowa mehr zu bewegen, weil diese müde sei, entgegnete Kerber: "Das bin ich auch. Das ist nicht so einfach." Auch eine zehnminütige Hitzepause vor Beginn des entscheidenden Satzes brachten zunächst keine Besserung.

Erst nach dem 0:5-Rückstand lief es für Kerber, die in der vergangenen Saison 20 ihrer 23 Dreisatz-Matches gewonnen hatte, wieder besser. Die Linkshänderin kam noch einmal auf 4:5 heran. Doch mit dem fünften Matchball holte sich Pawljutschenkowa ihren dritten Monterrey-Titel nach 2010 und 2011.

Fed-Cup-Teamchefin Barbara Rittner war dennoch zufrieden mit ihrer Nummer eins. "Schade, aber es war für Angie trotzdem eine gute Woche, die ihr Selbstvertrauen geben wird", sagte die 39-Jährige, die am Sonntag ihre Mannschaft in Stuttgart versammeln wird.

Am Mittwoch wird Rittner ihr vierköpfiges Aufgebot für das Aufstiegsspiel gegen Serbien bekannt geben. Neben Kerber sind Julia Görges und Sabine Lisicki gesetzt. Auf den letzten Platz im Aufgebot dürfen noch Mona Barthel, Annika Beck und Anna-Lena Grönefeld hoffen. Andrea Petkovic fällt wegen einer Wadenverletzung aus.
