Could GM be more revolting. Everytime she loses there are about 1 million super negative threads (thats are all very unsubtle mind you). This place (GM) is getting more and more immature. There used to be some reasonable tennis discussion now its filled will juvenile trolling and fake accounts.

But still, it is not as bad as when Wozniacki was winning in 2010 .

It's the way GM is. That St. THING of a user is really annoying though .

GM has simply never seen a really moderated forum, if there were enough mods to rule that place (and 3 is not even nearly enough, it would take 10-12 people) and if there was a REAL moderation in action the problems would be solved.
They should start closing/deleting threads/posts and banning people, but not just joking like "oohh you deleted that thread, here, let me put it back where it was and don't you ever do it again, bad boy!" --- they should take technical precautions to spot fakes instantly banning them, permaban some people, and ban 2/4/6 months a lot of others, then you'd see people would begin to act normally.

But instead of all this, we have mods who close their eyes and ban people who attack their faves.

All true. But I think that the majority, or at least a significant number of posters like GM just the way it is. About a year ago there was even a thread about it. In fact, when Wozniacki was number one someone proposed the start of a hate board where everyone could say without the interference of "those boring fun spoiling mods" how much they hated Woz or any other player and what they would like to happen to them or how they would like to humiliate them. The majority, or at least the most vocal part of GM seemed to approve. They only approve for as long as their own faves aren't on the receiving end of it all though.

I agree that it would take many more mods than there are now to moderate GM, unless they were payed for it because doing it with three would be a fulltime job if done properly. But where are you going to find 10-12 people at TF that are willing to do it and are completely impartial towards players?

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

I honestly think the situation is GM even as recent as 4/5 years ago wasn't that bad (Ok not that recent but still). In fact it just sank into a giant cesspool of Sarin fans + Martha haters against Martha fans. It got to the point of revolting honestly.

I think part of the reason is that the only successful players that people care about now are Martha and Sarin, specifically Martha actually. Years ago people could spread their hate equally around Juju Heng, Kimothy, Empress, Adje and others so GM got pretty balanced in a perversed kind of way

Now with Martha's success (And others' slumps and retirements) it's like she's the only target available

True, that's the real problem and I wouldn't know how to solve it, but with all the people on TF I think with some research they could have the number of people required, even if they aren't 110% impartial it would be better than nothing.

I compare GM to an all-round italian board I read, it begun as a videogames based board 13-14 years ago but now it actually has a lot of different sections regarding many topics.
The "general messages" part, which has any kind of thread going on has 5 moderators + I don't know how many supermods (mods which can operate on the WHOLE board) + obviously the admins. It has 52,184 threads with 3,361,425 posts.
GM has 3 mods + admins. It has 171,246 threads and 5,287,391 posts and most of all is not a "national" board but having people from all around the planet is active 24\7...
Do the math...

I've been here what, 1 year and a half (seems much longer than that lol) and I think now GM is way worse than when I joined.

For Sharapova fans, yes. But I don't think it was ever as bad as during the Woz years. But it's all water under the bridge now. Fact of the matter is that the bar was lowered so much during 2010/2011 that when you thought they couldn't sink any more they brought out the spades to dig a little deeper and I guess that has ever since become the standard of acceptable behavior. Not that GM has ever been a paradise, but at least in the early years of my membership there were still plenty of interesting discussions going on that made it easy to ignore all the BS. But in the last three or four years it's become almost exclusively a moronic "my fave is a genius and a jewel among women while your fave is a scrub and a lowlife" board.

It's insane. But good thing is it's always those same few spewing nonsense. I mean I don't use the ignore function at all but yea I'm already avoiding GM on normal days so don't really care.

Chrissie-fan Part of what makes the whole GM rubbish bearable is the SS community to be honest.
The good old days in GM with the funny confrontation and halloween threads.

The Maria hate these days reminds me of the Peak Caro hate days when everyone pretty much REFUSED to give Caro credit for ANYTHING.
