I think Errani is one of the few players on tour who actually does like Maria.

Andy Murray said not that long ago that even now Roger is still the best fast court player in the world. Problem from his perspective is that there are almost no fast courts left though. On the other hand, 10-15 years ago when the courts were faster people were complaining too because all they got to see were aces and unreturnables. I would prefer a better mix of court speeds myself. Some faster, some as they are now and others (particularly claycourts) even slower. Mix it up so that not every court is tailor made for one type of player while others always have to start with a disadvantage.

I don't see anything different between clay and most hardcourt now (about the speed, not the ball bounce)

Re: Miami Chat Thread

2006-2009 had the best balance of court surfaces.

In today's game if you wanna win a major on the men's side you have to be able to play some defense and get a few balls back. You also need to be able to take offense and be a shot maker. I don't think a few faster HCs would change that, though some more variety would be nice. If only for the sake of entertainment. However, had Dimitrov not completely shitted away that first set he could have the won the match. Juan just beat Novak and Andy in IW. So, it still pays to be an offensive player on HCs. I think the biggest problem is that most players are so mentally frail when they go up against the "big four" that it doesn't matter what surface they on.

The men's year-end championships was the fastest HC I've seen in a while, yet Fed was beat by Novak and Juan Martin, so I wouldn't say he's still the best HC player.

The grass courts could do with speeding up again.

Re: Miami Chat Thread

I hope Li Na beats Serena today. If Maria is going to lose I'd rather see her losing to Li than Serena who was getting on my nerves yesterday. I really don't know what to make of her. Not sure if she was pretending to be flat and sluggish with that pathetic attitude to play mind games with Domi. I find it hard to believe someone can be feeling so low then click a switch to playing GOAT. Believable if she was trying hard and losing. One can wake up and change strategy but not walk around like a zombie and then wham! smack! wallop!

I think Serena will win today! If Na is on and playing very well, she'll take a set.

I can't at Errani winning. I just don't understand this. Hopefully Maria will beat her 60 60.

I'm probably one of the few folks who doesn't mind seeing her having this kinda late career surge - her game is pretty fun to watch and she's very feisty and entertaining too. She's not a pusher either in a sense of Moonballniacki - her net game is solid at worst and she can attack too when given a chance. I guess I just don't see a reason to hate on her

she is not a pusher , she is just always forced to defend by big hitters , without serve even in serve games she is always defending. When she has a chance she can hit winners. Also her netgame, dropshots make her game entertaining.

I think she can make very entertaining matches versus players who can't overpower her and who are not best returners

Yes she's only called a pusher by the standards of GM
