Yes I have since noticed that thread in GM. It was started after I posted though. It is quite worrying if true. I would imagine it's fairly serious if she knows 4 days before she plays she has no chance of being fit.
The thing is if true it has to be a lot worse than that article a couple of days ago led you to believe. If she is being told categorically she won't be fit in 4 days times, it has to be reasonably serious, because you would think with something like tendonitis you would leave it to the last possible moment.
Well part of the problem is all the journalists who were in Indian Wells yesterday, are either in the air, or having a rest day most probably. Thus they are probably not in Miami to actually verify. All the twitter reports all pretty much stem from the same tweet. It could be true, but it's not really "official" confirmation.
As annouced Victoria Azarenka withdrew from Miami Sony Open Tennis. The belarus is not able to recover her ankle and to take a part to the tournment.
Probably Azarenka decided to follow her doctors decisions that told her to rest as soon as the pain was completelly over. “Playing in these conditions would be a risk and a damage” these are her words after her withdrawal in Indian Wells.
So the Miami Sony Open Tennis lost another Big name after the male withdrawal by Federer and Nadal.
As confirmed by Vika and her staff she will have to rest for 1 month then see if the ankle will be better and decide when and where comeback. This is a really bad news for the numer 3 ranked Vika, she will not have the chance to defend her position in ranking and to try to comeback into the 2nd position. Maria Sharapova, insteda, will have the chance to accumulate more points against her.
