Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 · world championship

The season is underway - sort of
Quite a few incidents in Q1 before the rain wiped out Q2 and 3 for an early morning start tomorrow.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 · world championship

I'm feeling done with F1. Already last winter I didn't follow F1 news daily like previously, just read some articles here and then, mainly about the commercial side, little about the sporting side.

And this morning's qualy showed something I think sucks with F1. The rain wasn't usually heave, still it was too heavy to prevent driving. A normal rain like that shouldn't prevent from competing in an outdoor sport. Yeah, maybe it was getting dangerous, but they should then make wet driving safe instead of not driving on wet. And after all, I'm not too sure it was even too dangerous. Rain should stop driving only if it's as heavy as at e.g. Nürburgring '07 or Malaysia '09 when it was almost flooding on the track. But this morning was just a normal, a bit heavy rain, which shouldn't prevent driving.

From about 2000 to 2011 I never wanted to miss even a practice session if only I had a chance to watch it. But last year I started skipping practice sessions and tonight I'll watch the qualy only if IW SFs end so that there's less than 30 minutes to the qualy.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 · world championship

1. Vettel
2. Webber
3. Hamilton
4. Massa
5. About to cry how he is really the greatest driver, but his car is soooooooooooooo inferior
6. Rosberg
7. Räikkönen
8. Grosjean
9. DiResta
10. Button
11. Hülkenberg
12. Sutil

Hamilton looks pretty smart for now. Only 10th and 15th for McLaren.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 · world championship

Kimi Welcome back to the winners' circle

I was expecting Vettel to win comfortably after the first few laps. Didn't know what happened since I left mid race but I'm pleased with the podium. Hopefully this isn't a one-off by Lotus since they seem to have a pretty good car this season that is able to fight for the WDC with Ferrari and Red Bull. Sad to say though McLaren has been mediocre since 2012 for their standards.

Some jinx Finland becomes a F1 force again! However Bottas was disappointing, he finished some way behind Gutierrez which itself alone is facepalm worthy

I'm actually quite unnationalistic a sports fan. I don't follow sports based on which sports Finland is good at, and I would've already posted here a very sour post saying I'll never watch F1 again, had Kimi won a shitfest. Actually, I don't even remember where Kimi started, all I remember that it was Vettel-Webber-Hamilton-Massa-Alonso.

About the quality of the race; tyres still played a big role but luckily weren't quite as unpredictable as last year. And McLaren and Williams, two teams I like a lot. Lewis was lucky to leave McLaren, even Mercedes is better than Macca now. I bet this will be another 2009 for Macca, it will take half a year to understand the car, but then at the end of the season it's the fastest car in the grid. And Williams had a very good car last year; without all Maldonado's mugging, Barcelona victory might've been not the only podium result. And having such a bad car ain't good for rookie Bottas. It's hard to impress enough to retain a seat for future seasons but beating Maldonado should be enough, which I think he's capable of. I'm almost more worried about Williams, my favourite team. If Bottas is driving well but the car is bad, he may go to other teams and Willams need to hire some mug to replace him.

I think people underestimate Lotus very much. It's the team where Alonso won his titles, and 2010 Renault and 2012 Lotus were good cars. Lotus is definitely the best team after Red Bull, McLaren, and Red Bull, better than Mercedes.

Yeah Massa outqualifying Alonso, but still a long way to be good like him

Kimi was dropped to 10th in the grid for impeding Nico Rosberg towards the end of Q3

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 · world championship

Massa outqualifying Alonso is moot.

That was proven last week in the Melbourne when, contrary to F1 tradition, Alonso came into the pits first and Massa was ordered to wait, even though Massa was in front of 'nando... allowing him to take on fresher tires earlier and pass Massa that way without even competing on the track. All poor Massa could do was get angry and complain.

Yep, what I'm most looking forward for in tomorrow's race is how Ferrari arranges Alonso ahead of Massa. All I can hope for is Massa staying ahead Alonso in the start and having a solid race so that Alonso gets past in the pits. Alonso getting past Massa on track would terribly ruin the watching experience.
