I thought this year's Indoors was THE opportunity..remember, Ray didn't play.
Well, since STAN, UF, UNC aren't participating, next year's Indoors might be another one..

You can add Brianna Morgan to that list... ironically without Collins even being a factor...

Hmm, if they can get by UCLA. =)
UCLA only loses Pam and brings in Jennifer Brady. Let's hope no one leaves.

Yes, UCLA can get only stronger Definitely the top contender for the NCAA title next year. On the other hand, Lao will be missed. Hope Pulido plays better come Spring. Katz and Westby comes in next season I think? There might be one more player but I'm not sure.

Morgan? Still too early to tell. Alex and Olivia were crucial in UF winning 2 NCAA titles. They're proven veterans.

So, are PAC 12 teams overrated or WCC underrated?

Re: Pac 12
#12 USC 4, #3 UCLA 2
Mar 08, 2013 at Los Angeles, CA (Los Angeles Tennis Center)
Doubles
1. Anderson/Van Nguyen (UCLA) vs. #1 Kaitlyn Christian/Santamaria (USC) 4-7, unfinished
2. #58 Dolehide/Montez (UCLA) def. DeSimone/Scandalis (USC) 8-3
3. Harrison/McPhillips (UCLA) def. Lao/Olmos (USC) 8-3
UCLA Wins Doubles Point
Singles
1. #3 Sabrina Santamaria (USC) def. #2 Robin Anderson (UCLA) 6-1, 6-2
2. #7 Danielle Lao (USC) def. #68 Pamela Montez (UCLA) 7-5, 6-1
3. #26 Zoe Scandalis (USC) def. #45 Kyle McPhillips (UCLA) 6-3, 6-1
4. #84 Gabriella DeSimone (USC) def. #81 Chanelle Van Nguyen (UCLA) 0-6, 6-2, 6-3
5. #82 Catherine Harrison (UCLA) vs. #99 Giuliana Olmos (USC) 7-6(2), 4-6, 1-0, unfinished
6. Courtney Dolehide (UCLA) def. Ellie Yates (USC) 6-0, 6-3
Just some comments:
- Robin has been in a funk lately. She has lost pretty bad in some matches. I hope she picks up her game, especially after that great start in the preseason.
- Gabi and Chanelle have had some fun 3-set battles since last year. I hope Chanelle gets moved down a position...this will likely happen when Ray returns.
- It's great to see Courtney playing consistently well at the 6th position. Too bad she will be out of the lineup when Ray returns.
- The Robin/Chanelle doubles pairing isn't working out. I would put Skylar back in with Robin at this point. Has Skylar been injured too?
- Pam played Zoe tough in last year's NCAA's, so I'm not sure why Stella didn't move her to that 3rd spot. I hope Stella switches Kyle back to the 2nd position eventually.
- Great job to USC for winning after losing the doubles and with all those rain delays. I can't wait for the rematch at USC. Hopefully there will be no rain and hopefully UCLA will be with Ray.

Re: Pac 12
UCLA too, ranking means nothing
I think they CAN win against USC at USC next month, but USC's top 3 are so strong right now. (Kyle playing #3 doesn't seem to help )
So they'll naturally aim at winning the dbls pt(like they did at their home) and sweeping the lower positions. So Chanelle, Cat, Courtney will have quite a pressure on them...by the way, WHEN WILL KAITLIN RAY PLAY???? Does anybody know? What's the matter with her? With her, UCLA can definitely be THE title contender..
