This is a pretty fair definition. While I don't like the use of the word "brainless", the term "ball basher" does fit a large number of current players, including many top ones, rather well. This is not an era of great tactical tennis if truth be told.

Well if you want tactical tennis you have to go back to wood.

I don't like brainless either. I mean, take someone like Hradecka. I'd definitely call her a ballbasher but I wouldn't say the way she plays is wholly brainless. When a player lacks athleticism and mobility in the way she does, I'd say the way she plays is pretty wise because it's not like she can outlast opponents in a long rally.

Re: "Brainless ball bashers" Really?

Why make this an issue now? This term has been used for ages.

Anyways, BBB:
Mirza
Gajdosova
Rezai
Ivanovic (esp against Radwanska)

They don't have one. That's why pushing is brainless in itself.

Re: "Brainless ball bashers" Really?

It's just hyperbole. There's nothing wrong with calling a player a "pusher" or "brainless ball basher". It doesn't mean anything anyway. It's like calling Jelena Jankovic a "tennis" "player"
