Even though this is what I wanted her to do, I'm still somewhat disappointed not to be seeing her play Dubai. Maybe next year.

She is choosing what is the right decision for her. As I said on GM is the injury serious? Highly unlikely. Is it smart to play through niggles and injuries? No, there is no sense in playing yourself into the ground in February. You may be able to win now, but it catches up with you in the end. She plays 3 tournaments in a row upcoming, so to be playing yourself into the ground now is not a good idea.

You only need to look at Radwanska last year to see why playing through injuries is not a good idea (unless it's a grand slam or something), it catches up with you sooner or later.

If I remember correctly, people in GM was saying (negatively) that there was no way Vika would withdraw because she cares too much about ranking, and now they are bashing her for withdrawing. Once again I find myself asking, why do I even visit GM!
