Belgium faces the prospect of back-to-back relegations when they take on Poland in their Fed Cup World Group II Play-off tie at the Tennisclub Koksijde in Koksijde. The venue, which plays hosts to ITF-womens' annual tournament the Flanders Ladiers Trophy, represents a move away from the Spiroudome, Charleroi, which has hosted Belgium's last two Fed Cup ties. It's the fourth straight home tie Belgium has played on a hard court.

Radwanska out for revenge

Agnieszka Radwanska is determined to send Poland back into World Group II when they travel to Belgium for their Fed Cup by BNP Paribas play-off tie on 20-21 April.

Poland has not featured in the second tier of the competition since 2010 when Belgium, incidentally, won 3-2 on Polish soil in the only previous meeting between the two nations.

“I hope we can get revenge,” said Radwanska. “When we played them last time three years ago we lost the match and went down [into Europe/Africa Zone Group I] again.”

The current Belgian No. 2 Yanina Wickmayer made the difference in that meeting in Bydgoszcz, Poland, winning each of her two singles ties before Kirsten Flipkens gave the Belgians an unassailable 3-1 lead.

And while Radwanska has already gained the upper hand over one of the upcoming opposition with a three-set victory over Flipkens in the quarterfinals in Miami this week, the world No. 4 is under no illusion that this year’s tie will be as testing as their encounter three years ago.

“It’s going to be a difficult match. They have two good names over there in Wickmayer and Flipkens, so it will be tough,” stressed the Krakow native.

Radwanska has played an integral part in Poland’s Fed Cup team in recent years, having contested 30 ties and racked up an impressive 27-6 record in singles and 6-1 in doubles.

Alongside sister Urszula she clinched the decisive doubles rubber in February’s Promotional Play-off win over Croatia and is looking forward to donning country colours again for the trip to Koksijde.

“Playing for Poland is always great,” she said. “You’re playing for your country and you have all the team supporting you at the side of the court. It’s a great thing and every year I always look forward to Fed Cup.”

“I’ll go [to Belgium], try to play my best tennis and win points for the Polish team. Every match, if I’m playing singles or doubles, I go on court and I want to win.”

The Belgians won't have Wickmayer, so the Poles will probably face Flipkens, Van Uytvanck, Mestach and Bonaventure or Hendler.

Well, Flipkens is in the top form, Aga is surely able to beat her (as she did not a long ago ), but if she beats Aga and Ula - this will be a really tough match.

Whatever happens - we really deserve more than euro-african zone with 2 players from top 50
