Re: Alexandra Cadantu
Pretty impressed by Alexandra today.
The start of the match was a catastrophe. Backhands flying everywhere and the serve not working at all, no consistency in her shot etc. Pous could have easily breadsticked her. Maybe she was still struggling to adapt.
However, as soon as she found her range the result was NID. People say she is a weaponless player, but the ones who watched today saw that for a claycourt specialist, Alexandra does a lot to dictate the rallies early on, especially with her forehand. She just lacks the raw power which forces her to go for the angles, but she did well today and got away with the deserved win.
The losing streak is over and with Dubois or Karatantcheva next, she has a pretty good chance of advancing further.
Also, no grunting apart from the last couple of games, no unneccessary 'Haide' or fistpumping, a very composed performance saving more than 10 BPs in the run of the match.
Pous-Tio is absolute bonkers, though. Wtf is this shit? Moonballing every second shot? However, I bow for the accuracy she has, nearly all landed close to the line, even some shanks of hers nearly became unreturnable topspin lops for Alexandra.

Re: Alexandra Cadantu
Great for Alex to rally to win the match! Don't know how she did it--Laura has always been a tough match-up for her, and Laura actually defeated her here 2 years ago. Now Alex evens the h2h, 2-all, and wins her first match since Tashkent

Re: Alexandra Cadantu
Playing the doublefault queen today.
Leads H2H 1-0 since defeating her on her run to the Biella title.
Match will be streamed.

Re: Alexandra Cadantu
Weird shit - the closest set of all has the most one-sided scoreline - only on clay.
Had BPs in every return game in the final set and couldn't convert any. As clutch as she was at the end of the second set, as dire in the third.
Pity, because she has much more game than Karatantcheva who as dull as it sounds, simply moonballed her to death.
Anyway, 0/5 for the day, very abrupt end of a great start to the week.

Re: Alexandra Cadantu
Final score, 46 75 26.
Oh well. Sesil is a tough opponent for her. H2h now even, 1-all.

Re: Alexandra Cadantu
WTA Bogota, Main Draw:
(1)Jelena Jankovic (SRB) v Julia Cohen (USA)
Estrella Cabeza Candela (ESP) v (wc)Mariana Duque-Marino (COL)
Maria Joao Koehler (POR) v Alexandra Cadantu (ROU)
Q v (7)Pauline Parmentier (FRA)
Excellent draw for the Duchess on so many levels.
Koehler is definitely an in form player, but she is a sucker on clay and you definitely need at least one match to get used to the Columbian dirt, anyway, especially serve wise. Slight advantages for Alexandra here.
She is on top of that leading the H2H ahainst Parmentier breadsticking her in Bucharest on clay last year.
And a QF against Jankovic, life is complete.
