According to Doha´s main draw Vika´s opponent on the second round in will be either Tsvetana Pironkova or Romina Oprandi. http://tennis.matchstat.com/Compare/-3806/-3867/-8405

If Caroline Wozniacki played well enough for a change, I would like to see her in quarterfinals against Agnieszka Radwanska, a kind of the Battle of the Pushers. There are also some other interesting possibilities in early round matches e.g Angelique Kerber vs Mona Barthel...  ...
On Serena Williams´half of the draw I would like to see how Sloane Stephens beat Maria Sharapova on the third round...  ..and maybe after that Sloane Stephens vs. Serena Williams rematch...  ..
Finally I hope that there will be Vika vs Serena match on the last day of the tournament. It is highly likely that Vika will lose temporarily No.1 spot because Serena needs only reach semifinals to gain more ranking points. But if Vika won this tournament after beating Serena in final, it would be a valuable victory for a whole session. Hopefully there will be only two No.1 players in 2013...  ... |

agree with everything exordes said except sloane beating masha. She is my other fav,so want her to at least go to semis. Altho i dnt expect her to beat rena,would be awesome if she does it. Then i will get my drm final. Anyways, i don't care about rankings,if vika continues to be consistent she will regain it,i just want her to play her game freely and improve. Hope aus final gave her a tremendous mental boost. I want her to win the title mostly so that she can continue to throw it on those biased,idiotic experts(so called) and journalists' face. Go girl.

According to order of play Vika´s first match will be on Wednesday, 13 February 2013, and Pironkova vs. Oprandi will play their match on Tuesday on Court 6. But many seeded players (S. Williams, Sharapova, Kerber, Bartoli, Petrova, Kirilenko, Vinci, Safarova) will start their tournament tomorrow, so there should be some good matches to watch.

Pretty messy. Struggled with her timing, lots of loopy floaty shots and many landing on the service line which is very unusual for her. Maybe due to the conditions, but also maybe due to her thinking too much about the conditions rather than just hitting through them.
Served well in the second set, nice to see her coming in to net a lot which is a good way to deal with this sort of player.
Her draw is easy enough that she should keep winning but would be more fun to see her play a lot better.

The wind : story of the match [...] nothing worst than playing a player who doesn't have great weight of shots in extremely windy conditions. You could see Oprandi's shots taking all sorts of weird directions post-bounce and Victoria did have a hard time for her first match, explained it well in the post-match ITW with her footwork really lacking earlier on to consistently find the correct distance with these tricky balls.
Nevertheless, great match, played the net well and displayed nice variances which was the logical adaptation to have in such conditions.  |
