A few players could trouble Maria in the wind from her Quarter, if Vika Domi happens that could be interesting.
Woz has a good chance here, Kerber isn't 100% here is she?

Maria-Sloane could be really interesting. Marion will be really motivated to beat Maria after their USO encounter, but I'm not sure she'll beat Stosur! A SF appearance would make me happy! 
Vika's draw was NID by the way!  Her only threat is Cibulkova who got double bagelled by Radwanska and lost in 2r of the AO!
Angelique got Barthel in the 2r!  Unlucky with her draws in this beginning of the season!

My expectations are still rock-bottom for this tbh I've just lost faith in what she can do in wind. I think she's pretty much a cert to win her first 2 rounds (even if Stephens gets through, I think it would be a pretty comfortable match-up for Maria), but if it's Crapova that shows up then I could easily see her getting bounced by Stosur/Bartoli/Kuznetsova in the Qtrs.
Then again, I didn't even think she'd play it in the first place, so my continued pessimism is perhaps a good omen.

Stosur choked a big lead vs Safarova and is 6-6 in TB in FedCup so don't be sure of anything with Samantha involved.
Vika's draw.. whatever. She'll eat Errani, Aga, Kerber alive. The only threat I see for her is an out-of-nowhere-GOAT-Robson (because she's a BB).

^^ I know. The fact that this will be my first time watching Maria play in Doha is kind of hilarious. If only I was a diehard fan pre-2008 
Anyway, I'm excited! I want some tough matches. Maybe, god forbid, a set going to 6-4 can't believe in 6 matches she hasn't had a set go beyond 6-3

Vika is a lock for the F. Can Serena still become #1, if Vika makes it to the F?

I feel the same about everything I wish I watched more tournaments she played back in the years and I also hope in some fun and challenging match now. :P

LMAO. Stosur DF'ed at 6-5 in the TB and then lost the first set to Lucie. That girl's a comedian.
As for Maria's draw, in good form, she should make the QF's easily and then hopefully we get at least two tough matches against Stosur/Bartoli/Kuz and then the big kahuna in the SF's. Let's see if she can get past Al Nabah or Q.

I didn't believe Sam could win even when she was up 4-1 or something she's become such a mess, I feel sorry for her. 
IDK anything about the run for #1, I just want wins and tournaments for Maria, so I don't care about the rankings

True! But I don't want Vika to have that many more weeks as #1 than Maria. I'm already pressed! That's why I want Serena to be #1 again, apart from the fact that she would fully deserve it!
