Re: Entry List?
Also not a bad idea to avoid 5pts in her ranking pts which led her out from OG by 1spot....

I know but it's always risky for TOP50-70 players who actually has chance to get into some mandatory Premire events and losing in R1 will end up getting 5pts for ranking pts...
IW and Miami only has 2Q matches and by winning, you get 30pts, if you also win R1, you get 50+30=80Pts and that's not a bad idea...

Re: Entry List?
Yeah, that rule is terrible for low ranked players who play WTA/ITF through the year. Out of her 17 best results for the rankings Kimiko had at the beginning of the year these stones on her back
5 pts Australian Open
5 pts Miami
5 pts Roland Garros
5 pts Wimbledon
5 pts US Open
5 pts Beijing
Now for instance her 18 points for Limoges last year are not counted in her ranking And we can say she is lucky in the sense she had a lousy spring/summer, otherwise she would have all these 5 points while several 30 points not being counted...

Well in IW and Miami you want to be either in Q or be seeded.

Not to mention the awesome benefits from playing MD instead of Q. In IW knowing you are playing Miami next they give you a minimum of 10 free nights in the official (and luxury) hotel, so even if you lose in under an hour in the first round you get some paid holidays in a top resort in California Q players get just 2 nights free accomodation (in a worse hotel). Miami also gives free rental car to every player in MD and 7 nights of free accomodation in a top hotel. Not to mention the big $$$ you get for MD instead of Q. Believe me, no players would choose to play in Q rather than MD, especially in IW/Miami

So much benefits...
But I am not so sure if there's much to do at Indian Wells other than shopping at Desert Hills, it's so far off LA area.

OMG, this is great!!
I wonder if they could upgrade the hotel for Q players who made to the MD or the Alt #1 sneak into MD in last minutes??
Maybe original Q player stays where they started and only direct acceptance players benefits.... But it will indeed be the motivation for some Q players to get into MD next year!!!

Yes, they are offered the upgrade. But you would be surprised of how many players decide to stay in the original hotel due to routines and superstitious reasons After all, the original one is not a luxury hotel but it's not a crappy motel either.
