Sloane Stephens is out of US Fed Cup match vs. Italy next week with abdominal strain. Melanie Oudin will replace her, per USTA release

Didn't an ab injury keep her out all fall season??
Wonder if she re-injured the same area?
This could take a bit to heal, which would be a shame, as she has so much momentum at the moment

Sloane Hopefully it's only minor and she'll still be able to play Doha & Dubai

Since she hasn't pulled out of Doha yet,it was probably that she didn't want to put the strain on the injury of playing fed-cup feb 9 and 10 and then starting Doha Feb 11. They really shouldn't have put the two a day apart.

I think honestly Sloane probably wanted some extra time off to practice and rest...especially after all of the matches she has played lately and her large amount of media commitments after the AO. I'm guessing she wanted to make sure not to have any further abdominal injuries and take it easy!

Looks to be a pretty assuring draw for Sloane. Could easily trouble Sharapova I feel. Plus she is seeded and almost assured a QF berth.
