Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Yes, you are right. How could I forget about that...
Was it her first ever WTA tournament? I don't know, but it shows that the mental aspect is playing a big role here.
People say the older you get, the mentally tougher, but especially 'our' tennis players have the kind of tradition to go very far in their very first WTA events (Dulgheru, Begu, Cadantu, even Halep) and most of them seem to struggle enormously under pressure in the following years.
That's pretty remarkable and shows how mentally affected their games are and how good they can be if they just stop thinking for once about what is possible and for once focus on what is now.

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Budapest was her 3rd WTA tournament. First one was Stockholm 2006, where she qualified beating A.Radwanska and then lost to Kanepi in R1.

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
WTA Doha, Main Draw
Wozniacki vs Q
Cirstea vs Jabeur
Barthel vs Q
Kerber vs BYE
Let's bring on R2 already. We already waited for it, didn't we?

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Sori should at least be able to defend her second-round points.

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Wins 2-6 6-3 6-0 eventually. 1st set and a bit more probably was very awful, as she was down 2-6 1-2* at some point. Then she got her shit together and only lost 1 game

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Classic Sorana 3 setter.
I don't even need a stream and exactly know how that looked like.
R2 against Wozzo now.

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
No tournament without a bagel Now hopefully she doesn't make tons of UEs in her next match, but since it's Woz...

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Since it's Woz you think that the hope will be in vain?
Could be an ugly match.
Woz is in much worse form than in previous seasons though, she's more beatable now. Maybe, just maybe Sorana will actually play well for long enough to win...

Re: Sorana's Asian Swing 2013 - Part I
Sori opened her bakery late
Woz is actually a good match-up for her. They are even against each other, 2-all, with Sori winning the last match (2009 FO). With Woz's rapidly diminishing form, Sori should take her chances!

Three set points in the TB of the first set for nothing She actually played quite well.
