Errani's top-spin is very dangerous only on clay

Of course it is not effective on this surface. Has Barthel played Stosur before? Or someone like CSN? I think she does very well against flat hitters. Not sure about spin though. We'll see.

I think Errani is a better matchup for Mona than Suarez Navarro. So if Mona can keep up her level of today she should be able to take Errani apart. Mona'a serve and return of serve from today's match should be enough to prevent Errani from getting into longer rallies.
Of course we all know what will happen if Mona shows up with an offday tomorrow. But i have the feeling that this won't happen because she seems to enjoy herself at the moment on the tennis court.

I agree with you.
Hopefully she is not too overconfident because she might know deep inside that she is the better player here and can beat Errani.
Being in a final is still something special for Mona.
I hope she can stay relaxed then everything should be fine.

I think Mona can better deal with Errani's topspin than with Vinci's slice. Especially on her forehand Mona still has some problems with heavy flat balls and also slices. So i believe her forehand works better if she gets heavy topspins. But we will see tomorrow.
But for now i am enjoying her today's performance and won't be thinking too much about the final tomorrow.

Mona is a tall girl with a fantastic double-handed backhand.. I don't think a top-spin can be a big problem for her )

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
Mona really has nothing to lose here though. Whether she wins or loses it's still a great achievement for her to be in the final. Hopefully she's aware of this and just plays a good game and doesn't let the nerves (if there are any) get the best of her.

I am only worried about her FH, her BH is technically very solid.

She already surpassed my expectations for this week in many respects. No matter the results of this week and the final tomorrow i am impressed how she improved her game in the offseason with regard to her return of serve, her forehand and her het game. I also think she handles the pressure in difficult match situations better now (ok not all the time ).
So if she looses somehow tomorrow i would be sad for a moment but it would be ok for me because i think she still needs a lot of time to mature. Let's not forget she is on the WTA-Tour only since one and a half years and i think she needs two more years to fully unfold her potential.
So let's give her the time that she needs.
What really makes me happy for Mona is that the crowd really seems to like her, not only for her wonderful game, especially for her personality.

Pretty sure she can handle extreme topspin on the BH side. Actually she can handle anything with her BH. Not sure about her FH though but I think she prefers topspin shots to come at her FH side instead of slices or very low balls.
Errani's slice is way worse than Vinci's and her serve is much worse. Vinci is certainly a much more troubling match up for Mona thanks to her great variety. So yeah, Mona should win tomorrow even with her average level (B level). If she play as well as today, she'll win without a doubt imo. She should beat Errani on this surface.

I´m with everybody else. Slice is a problem, topspin not. If Mona has a normal day she should win. She can talk herself into the underdog role (she seems to enjoy) against a top 10 player, even when she should be favoured based on the surface and match-up. Players with a big serve and return are basically the death sentence for Errani´s game. But if Errani can get into the rallies Barthel will be in a world of hurt.

Ich find diese eigenen Foren ja eigentlich unpraktisch. Schau da immer viel weniger rein, aber muss sich jetzt wohl ändern.
