Kvitova tanked this match. She prepares herself to her random run in random Mandatory tournament.

What the hell is this, Petra's form is seriously in the dumps, absolutely awful at the moment.
Kiki is some prospect though, what a week it's been for her, nice to see one of the youngsters breaking through, hopefully she can make the final.

Those around her seem too secure. I could see the defence if you could seem improvements, but things just seem to be getting worse. The longer things are allowed to get worse, the harder it will be to ever return to the top of the game.
I know some people will say she is still young so her coaching team deserve more time, but we've seen many WTA players in recent years have their "peak" years young, have a long slump and then never return to the top of the game.

She's young and has time to get out of slump and be great player but her coaching team depleted all options, also i wouldn't be fast jumping into conclusion since this is too early in the season, as fan of her i'm willing to wait since she undergoes process of getting used to new fitness regime and stronger body, this things can affect her serve and some parts of her game, so she needs a little more time. Not every player started producing great results with a new coach\fitness trainer for some it's getting time to getting used to or create a working bond. Petra admitted herself that with this new fitness regime she should play better then ever but she don't and this is confuses her. I'm worried about the fact the doesn't look like herself on the court, if she can't be herself changing team will not change anything.

Re: Paris QF: Mladenovic def. Kvitova 63 64
Mladenovic has made some improvements to her game over the past couple of months. I remember watching her back when she was trying to do a bad Lisicki impression, with glitchy technique. Big power, with no consistent rallying game, and not a whole lot in between the big winners and the big losers. What I always liked about her was that rocket first serve, and that she was strong enough to hit outright winners from behind the baseline. But I was beginning to think she'd just be a messy basher for the rest of her career
Nowadays, her rallying abilities are at an acceptable tour level, and despite the fact that her grip means that her FH will always be vulnerable against deep, flat shots, she's now able to change the direction of the ball much better off of both sides, to both open up the court and to deflect pace against the major hitters that she's been up against this week.
Her 1st serve remains a big weapon, and she is quite competent in the forecourt. Despite having a wonderfully athletic looking figure, she's slow and often a bit clumsy, which is a bit reminiscent of Vaidisova's issues. Her shot selection and match-play also seem to have improved significantly, which can probably be attributed to increased experience at tour level.
Overall, Mladenovic doing well is good for the game. A top French player would be a wonder right now for the WTA, and she's quite distinctive looking. In a good way, obviously.
Ludmila's current M.O of hitting 1 or 2 shots every 20 minutes and then about 30 homeruns in the meantime is going to see her out of the top 20 (even top 30), by the end of this year.

I was at todays matches, right at the front. Yes Petra is struggling right now but also Mladenovic played well, she served quite a few aces!
Anyway it was good to see Petra on the court.
