Re: Pentathlon Fed Cup - predict the country matches - Wednesday start
Picks on 6 days including zonal matches, as follows:
Suggested Schedule
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Europe Zonal Group I - pick the team winners and team match score (2-1 and 3-0). 8 matches per day.
Sorry for being Euro-centric, but a) there's live scores and b) quite a lot of WTA regulars play here.
First team discard after Thursday.
Saturday
World Group I and World Group II - pick all singles matches with set ratios, as normal WTA. 16 matches.
'Weekend round'
World Group I, World Group II, Zonal Group promotion - list the team winners in order, and with tie score (3-2, 4-1 or 5-0 for World Group - 2-1 or 3-0 for Zonal Group). 12 matches.
If you do not wish to list a team score it defaults to 3-2 or 2-1.
Submitted before start of play on Saturday, scores counted on Sunday evening.
Second discard after Saturday (so captains know who is picking well or not for team score)
Sunday
World Group I and World Group II - pick all singles matches with set ratios. 16 matches.
Order Of Play
Wednesday OOP

Re: Pentathlon Fed Cup - predict the country matches - Wednesday start
Pentathlon pick guide
Step 1. – Pick winners and set rates for all matches (exactly the same as in TT).
Step 2. – Move up and down the matches int he OOP. Most likely picks should be top, risky ones should be down.
Step 3. (Optional) – Read the scoring rules for WAR subevent. That subevent might need a bit of strategy (you can have a separate set of picks for WAR subevent)
Pentathlon disciplines
TC - 2 points for correct winner, 1 point for correct score ratio (2 points for correct score in Weekend round)
WAR - Each correct pick scores an amount of points dependent on the distribution of picks. If you're the only one with correct picks and 20 others have incorrect, you score 20 points, if everyone picks correct, everyone score 0 points.
SEQ - Counting from the top, how many picks have the correct winner. First row only gives 11*11 points, first two rows 12*12 points, first three rows 13*13 points etc.
PRO - Top row picks are most important here - first row of your pick has a 16 multiplier, second row has 15, third 14 etc. If your pick on the row is a winner with correct set rate your score is 2*the corresponding multiplier, if your pick on the row is a winner but with incorrect set rate then your score is 1* the corresponding multiplier.
FO - FITD Online - in WTA, same amount for each correct pick as WTA points scored by that player. As there are no official Fed Cup points, I suggest following scale
Wednesday, Thursday Zonal: 40 pts
Friday Zonal: 50 pts
Saturday World Group: 60 pts
Saturday Zonal: 60 pts
Sunday World Group: 80 pts
Sunday World Group Team: 120 pts
Your rank in each discipline is summed to give a final 'place count' - lowest place count wins the tournament. 3 players count toward the team total.

- You send your picks like TT, with set ratios (2-0 or 2-1), but in the order you are most confident of winning. So if Serena plays she's probably your top pick, and if two equal-ranked scrubs play each other that's likely the bottom pick.

- If your pick is correct, you get points according to how many picked the loser in that match. So if you picked Serena in WAR you would get 0 or 1 points, while picking Razzano could yield 20 points. Therefore you may want to be slightly more adventurous with your WAR picks as the potential payout is large.

Re: Pentathlon Fed Cup - predict the country matches - Wednesday start
I want to play, but I'm not sure yet.
I plan to be in EILAT and be present at the the Group 1 matches. I'm not sure I will have WiFi there.
But let's say I'll start, and let you know if I can't complete it.
