I was in fact impressed with the sign itself, the phrase
Shouldn't STAN counter by adding 'Fear the Tree' on Taube
P.S. Didn't know ASU fans says 'Fear the Fork' Tree, fork, weird things to fear

Going from #3 to #5. Probably has something to do with Coach Forood saying "I'm not exactly sure where she will open the season. Stacey might be a little behind in her prep, but she is working hard and her tennis is starting to look good again."
and also:
"We've seen a lot of improvement from Ellen lately, not to mention a really good tournament recently at the Freeman Memorial Invitational. We're trying to get Ellen to do a few more things, and not be one-dimensional as a player. It's all about working her points more and looking for opportunities without rushing things."

I don't get this Doesn't this imply that Ellen is a ball-basher or something?
Does this mean that Ellen plays sgls like dbls?
No. 5 Stanford 6, UC Davis 1
DOUBLES
1) Ahn/Gibbs (STAN) d. Heneghan/Sanders (UCD) 8-6
2) Tan/Tsay (STAN) d. Edles/Pham (UCD) 8-1
3) Dillon/Hardebeck (STAN) vs. Curry/Kobayakawa (UCD) abandoned
Order of Finish: 2, 1, 3
SINGLES
1) Nicole Gibbs (STAN) d. Megan Heneghan (UCD) 6-3, 6-3
Nice fight for Megan, she's a quality player so could harass Gibbsy. Nice drives as usual,
could rally with Gibbsy, even had some winners, defense was pretty good too such as slices,
but at times her finishes weren't too good.
2) No. 2 Krista Hardebeck (STAN) d. Lauren Curry (UCD) 6-1, 6-0
Congrats to Krista, won her 1st dual home match I think? Finished earlier than Gibbsy too
3) Kristie Ahn (STAN) d. Layla Sanders (UCD) 6-1, 6-2
4) No. 55 Ellen Tsay (STAN) d. Ellie Edles (UCD) 6-0, 6-2
5) Stacey Tan (STAN) d. Tiffany Pham (UCD) 6-0, 6-0
6) Melissa Kobayakawa (UCD) d. Natalie Dillon (STAN) 4-6, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (8)
Order of Finish: 5, 3, 4, 2, 1, 6

Re: Pac 12
from PEPP website;
Tennis Match Results
USC vs Pepperdine
Jan 28, 2013 at Malibu, Calif.
(Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center)

Singles
1. #17 Sabrina Santamaria (USC) def. #104 Lorraine Guillermo (PEP) 6-0, 6-2

Gugu stepped up to 4, might be one the best #4s in the country (if her having a mp against
Robin Anderson isn't a fluke)
5. Kaitlyn Christian (USC) def. Megan Moore (PEP) 6-0, 6-2
6. Valeria Pulido (USC) def. Danielle Feneridis (PEP) 6-0, 6-1
Doubles
1. #4 Lorraine Guillermo/Khunpak Issara (PEP) vs. #1 Kaitlyn Christian/Sabrina Santamaria (USC) 5-4, unfinished

Re: Pac 12
Let's just say that Tan's match was over before Gibbs first set.
Ahn was playing really well - great to see her playing good. Love her style of being able to mix up her shots, drives & slices. Yes, her ankle was taped.

Tsay forced a 3 setter against Santamaria at UNLV invite. And THAT Sabs bageled Krista, so..
understandable.
But of course, Stacey who actually beat Juricova last Spring at Ojai, playing at 5..
only at Stanford!
P.S.
"Kristie played well at NCTC Classic, picking up wins over USC's Zoe Scandalis and UCLA's Skylar Morton."
I thought Zoe only lost to Cat at NCTC
Catherine Harrison (UCLA) def. #19 Zoë Scandalis (USC) - 6-4, 2-6, 6-3
Gabrielle DiSimone (USC) d. Kristie Ahn 6-4, 6-3
But it seems they played extra matches the next day, no score on both their websites.
In fact, Alabama at UCLA score aren't up on both school's website, either.
Anyway, if Kristie played well, as coach Forood says, AND Gaby beat her, then.......
FEAR THE TROJANS?

Do you think Tan's got something to prove?
I definitely think that if Ahn can stay healthy this year, she's going to be a key factor for Stanford to contend, but not having Mal back definitely forces Dillon to the 6th spot, which can be the difference in a close 4-3 match.
Sad to say, but UCLA and USC is just too deep and talented...

Still, even without Mal STAN is pretty formidable.
I'm not sure they'll win the dbls pt against USC or UCLA but
Gibbs Hardebeck Ahn at 1-3? It's like a dream line-up, if Ahn gets her PAC 12 winning form back
Now let's have a laugh;
Nicole Gibbs @Gibbsyyyy
Econ 102B is now my number one reason for wanting to be a pro athlete #notaboutthislife

Re: Pac 12
You know I have to wonder if Gibbsy feels she should be out on the pro circuit.
You see the young Americans like Sloan Stephens, Lauren Davis, and Madison Keys all making headway in the top 20 and top 100.
With Mal turning pro and especially after Gibbsy having won single and doubles...it's like she needs to have confidence in her game and ability to improve to the next level, instead of taking the safe route and meeting the status quo of a college education.
Come-on Gibbsy bring it!!! she's got like 4 inches on little Lauren Davis
