I'm a Vika fan but gotta say Kuzzy is greater. More slams = greater

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour
there is no way Vika is ranked above Kuzzy on pure logic - 2 slams>>>>>1 slam
also - no way is Sam above NaNa, she only has like, 2 other singles titles!

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour
Ok, I know you were all biting at the bit...
So NOW can we all agree that Vika is greater than Kuzzie? Also, she's got her sights set on Masha's spot!
BTW, since my last update, Vika has surpassed Amelie at weeks at No. 1. Her next target is Caro.
Na has leapfrogged Sam and is now #7 on the list.

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour
This is my updated list (I will update from time to time):
I would consider not only results which are obviosly most important criteria, but the impact that player has in the world of tennis to:
1) Serena WILLIAMS - THE MAMA, absolutely the best female tennis player of all times
2) Venus WILLIAMS - One of the greatest of all times
3) Maria SHARAPOVA - Golden slam, former #1, worldwide superstar
4) Victoria AZARENKA - Most promising player of this generation, #1 at the moment, 2 GS titles
5) Ana IVANOVIC - GS winner, former #1, worldwide superstar, the most beautiful player of all times
6) Svetlana KUZNETSOVA - Two-time GS winner, former #2, very persistent player in the past
7) Na LI - GS winner and multiple finalist, first Asian player to win a GS, big impact on tennis development in Asia
8) Petra KVITOVA - GS winner, former #2, one of the most promising players of this generation
9) Samantha STOSUR - GS winner, Ausie superstar
10) Caroline WOZNIACKI - former #1, numerous WTA titles despite defensive tennis
11) Francesca SCHIAVONE - GS winner, one of the best personalities at the court
12) Agnieszka RADWANSKA - GS finalist, former #2
13) Vera ZVONAREVA - Multiple GS finalist, former #2
14) Jelena JANKOVIC - GS finalist, former #1
15) Kimiko DATE KRUMM - Multiple GS semifinalist, the oldest active player ever on WTA tour
16) Marion BARTOLI - GS finalist, persistent player
17) Nadia PETROVA - One of the most persistent WTA players, former #3
18) Angelique KERBER - Best German tennis player, one of the most promising at the moment, top 5

Lmao at ivanovic being over Sveta, just because she was gifted #1, doesn't make up for one less slam.

And didn't you argue in the other thread that Ana is greater than Vika because according to you, she's had a bigger overall influence on the world of tennis?

Ana 5? No. Li NA is borderline #4 right now. Shes got influence over a BILLION people in china. Shes the first chinese player to win a slam. Azarenka needs to win another slam to surpass Li imo. if its on "how" they will be remembered. Maria and Li get the bumps for being the 1rst.

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour
Wait, never mind the "influence". It's the rules - one of the rules says
* In the case Player A holds one Slam less than Player B, but Player A has been ranked #1, Player A will be given the edge. This is the only time a ranking trumps a Slam.
So, shouldn't Ana be above Sveta according to this rule, then, or?

Well, I said this is my updated list, so, as Azarenka's fan which I think you are, I would expect from you to be happy with this. I still think Ana has bigger overall influence on tennis world, but respecting the rules, it is obvious that someone with 2 GS titles and #1 should be ahead of someone with 1 GS title and #1. But, if Ana would have 2 GS titles, she should be considered greater than Vika with 2 GS IMO.

Li is great but she can't be ahead of Ana, Azarenka or Kuznetsova. If we would consider only off-court influence, I would pick Serena, Maria, Ana and Li as top 4 immediately.

No. 1 status is all so troublesome at times. I see the problem more clearly now-- no one mentioned this earlier, or I probably would have kept Sveta above Vika!
Deleted the corollary until I can make a better case that doesn't infuriate people. Thinking about having the YE #1 status trump having one less Slam.

Oh, I see. So you first make a list according to popular support of players, and THEN you create rules which would result in such a list. Makes sense. 'Tis TF after all.
