Angelpova
I think her Doha GOATness is really more about timing then anything. When she won in 05 and 08, those were few of her semi-GOAT periods. Soooo windy there

She almost always gets ill at this time of this year (most players do in fact, because of the dramatic change in climate when they fly back from Australia), and she doesn't exactly seem to care about the February tournaments enough to push herself through illness, judging by the last few years. Plus, as has been said, with it being so windy there, I'm not sure I'd expect her to do well there anyway.
I dunno, maybe it's just because I'm still in bitter pessimistic mode from the other day, but I really do think we won't be seeing her again until Indian Wells.

But Indian Wells is so far away! IMO, she needs to get back onto court as soon as.

Re: GOATPova returns to stay undefeated in Doha!
Maria is in no position to brush off any tournament right now. If she drops Doha, that would leave her with a mere 6 matches played in the first 2 months of the year. She needs to get out there and play tennis and try to find some kind of groove and confidence because that performance against Li had to be a painful reality check. Her game isn't close to where it needs to be and the only remedy is to suck it up, get out there in tough windy conditions and tough competition and fight hard and play like you want it.

Angelpova, your sig and guys lets not jinx her to play this. She definitely should play somewhere in February, the more real practice the better

If she's healthy she'll 100% play this.

Re: GOATPova returns to stay undefeated in Doha!
If you play just don't lose to Vika/Aga/Li although it would be nice to see her before March.
And Angelpova PLEASE do not change that sig any time soon.

How did it ever get to the stage that Maria fans are excited for the clay court season

Re: GOATPova returns to stay undefeated in Doha!
And the haters dread it.
IDK, I'm hoping she can defend RG but I'm not expecting such a clean sweep as last year at all. Still if she wins RG I wouldn't mind how she does in the warm ups.

Doha isnt Paris or Moscow to have -10-20C...
And wind was least of her problem in last 13 months.
The pessimism is on point though.
