Well she was injured. She had the trainer come to the court.

I think she was probably nursing an injury coming into the AO-- would explain why she played no warm-up tournaments.

Sad to see another Russian going to go to another country. Her coach says she will claim for Belgium when she goes 18. How many now are they losing? Putinseva, Gavrilova, another Rodionova!!!

Irina's been trying to get Belgium status for a few years. Also, it's been rumored that Kulikova will play for Italy.
Arina's Aussie citizenship has been rejected (don't know the details), but she always plays for Australia at the AO.

Arina wasn't fully rejected, she has residence only 1 year/2year ago, she has to have more years, maybe? She is part of the tennis australia and Nasty has been very loud shouting about it. She will play for Oz though.
Irina can only get Belgian passport application from 18, shock about Kulikova.
Anthonyqld, from her old coach it looks to be Oz, she hoped for France and her father must have been trying for Kazakh but Putinseva got it. Sad for Russian tennis, but see how crazy it is for young players and no control. Unless they go awya to a proper place they end up with so many problems.

Irina's back in action as the #3 seed at RM. Hopefully, her injury woes are behind her.
She plays SR Lauren Albanese first round.
