Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
didn't expect her to win that easily in sf, didn't expect her to lose this easily in final. but this is tennis. and i do believe the break and mono have a lot to do with it. players need long time to come back from mono, if they ever do, and their game is for quite some time hot and cold(which you could se from two sets ajla lost this week against players she shouldn't) . gl in next tornaments

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
As expected, Ajla is in the MD of this week's $25K in Florida as an SE. Here's her quarter of the draw:
[1] Shuai Zhang (CHN) v Qualifier
Qualifier v Qualifier
[SE] Ajla Tomljanovic (CRO) v Maria-Fernanda Alvarez-Teran (BOL)
[8] Anne Schaefer (GER) v [WC] Jennifer Elie (USA)
SF is probably expecting too much but Ajla has a decent shot at making the QF. Good luck, Ajla!

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
With everything she had to play last week, there's probably not much more in the tank than to reach QF anyway, so that's what I expect from this tournament. Assuming she had some decent time to rest, it's not too much to wish for, and it would be a shame to miss out on a chance for a few more points.
Come on Ajla

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
Great to see Ajla back...but I'm afraid of how mono will affect her in continuation of her career...It would be great if we could know some more informations...

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
Ajla used her protected ranking to enter MD on 100 000$ Midland (04 February - 10 February)

Good to see she is feeling confident enough to enter such an event. It'll be interesting to see how much she can do, but also, as Hele. says, how much damage has mono done. Speaking of the later, maybe it's not too much, and looking at her development since the comeback, I'd say she is at a level we'd expect her to be, all things considered. As strange as it may sound, maybe mono did her a favor of sorts, by forcing you to make a step back at look at the situation from a different perspective, and allowing her to make a fresh start with a changed mindset. We'll see if that has happened soon enough. But for now, a step at a time is just fine.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
Nice
I'm very interested in next round against Zhang (1). Doubt that she will repeat last week success because winner of this match will probably play against Majeric.
New nice climb in rankings, around No.367

Potentially very bad news: Ajla was leading 62 30, then lost six games in a row and retired
