uczę się języka polskiego, ale to jest trudne! I really love it though. It makes sense that this word is not a commonly used expression because I could not find it anywhere or anyone I asked did not know.
But TBH I never hear anyone say it in that meaning, at least in my region we only use 'dawaj' or 'dajesz' as an encouragement.
Boy so many years out of the country and I am not sure anymore what is common Polish expression and what is not. Having said that am I wrong thinking that "Trzymaj" which literally means "Hold" was used as encouragement when someone was on right course to success, but he or she just needed to continue to do what they were doing so far, in other words hold current course of action?

Keep it mind it might be a regional thing, it doesn't have to be logical. After all, people from Kraków "wychodzą na pole".
Edit:
Players' weapons of choice
Funny video. Aga chose Sam's serve, especially second serve kick serve.
Another minimum performance. lol As long as Aga makes the important points and wins, I have no problems with it. Agree with mateusz, the serve is Aga`s weakness. Definitely has to improve in next rounds. R3 vs Gollum, Aga should kick her ass.

I think you mean 'tak trzymaj'. Never heard people use only 'trzymaj' in this meaning in everyday speech. But then again maybe a shorter version of this expression is indeed more popular in some regions.
