Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
A typical scoreline for Mona. Winning one set easily and loosing the other two by a small margin.
A devastating loss!

Congratulation Johnbert, it`s post No 1000 with this content.
Well, she needs some help that`s pretty obvious.
But it`s not realistic that anything will change right now.

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
Given her results the last 2 weeks, it seems to be some sort of stage anxiety that makes her particularly erratic at slams.

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
She had good results at the Grand Slams until the FO 2012.
FO 2011 - 2nd round after qualifying
Wim 2011 - 1st round after qualifying
US Open 2011 - 2nd round, beat a seeded player with MJMS
AO 2012 - 3rd round after beating a seeded player with Cetkovska
but then
FO 2012 - 1st round loss against Davis
Wim 2012 - 1st round loss against Zvonareva
US Open 2012 - 1st round loss against Jovanovski
Aus Open 2013 - 1st round loss against Pervak

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
The FO 2012 was the first slam were she was a household name.

It appears to be so. The other problem is that she nearly never wins the tight three-setters. Even on ITF-level she lost these matches most of the time.

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
It was not the first time at Hobart last week that Mona mentioned that she prefers calm locations with a relaxed crowd.
But I actually think that it`s not the main reason for her obviously bad and shaky performance of today.
She was in a horrible shape before the last three GS of the past season.
This time she also was showing some tendency that her form curve and attitude goes down a little towards the end of the week at Hobart.
She probably also was a bit tired from the last two weeks and then unable to cope with the heat and the different atmosphere at Melbourne.
However, as a pro you have to be able to deal with that.

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
If she will lose early in Paris, she could be out of the top 50

If she had lost early in Auckland and Hobart... Oh wait!
