Hi Mark,
I know it is a women's results thread, but have you seen the name of Frank Hadow, the Wimbledon champion of 1878 there? I think he went back to his plantation in Ceylon. I wonder whether he continued to play tennis in tournaments there.

Hi, Karoly,
The Ceylon Championships began in 1884, when the main event was a men's singles. The name of Frank Hadow isn't on the list of winners, which I saw in "Ayres' Lawn Tennis Almanack" for 1912. I've never seen Frank Hadow's name in the draw of any event at any tournament, except for Wimbledon in 1878.
Mark

Re: Official Tournament Winners by Event
There was definitely a German Covered Court Championships tournament in 1940 (and possibly one in 1941):
1940 Ursula Heidtmann d. Tilde Dietz 6-1, 10-12, 6-4
Source: "Tennis und Golf", April 1940.

Re: Official Tournament Winners by Event
Bermuda Championships
Work in progress
An open tournament was first held in Hamilton, Bermuda, in early March of 1913, when the competitors included a number of English and American players. This first tournament featured a women's singles event, but no top players took part in the Bermuda Championships until the early 1920s.
The Bermuda Championships were usually held outdoors during the early part of the year, in the capital, Hamilton. The surface used was hard.
