I can't recall any errors at the net today -) PS. She made net-approaches not too often though

As i mentioned before her volley technique (especially on the forehand side) is really good because of her rock solid arm position. But getting a sense of approaching the net at the right time is something she can improve on.
I think improving her net game could be crucial for her future prospects as this could be a proper way to reduce her normally high UE rate from the baseline according to the motto "better attack instead of waiting for your own mistakes".

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2

That's why I think she should play a little bit more doubles.
This is her 6th semifinal on the WTA tour, but she lost her last 3 semis (against Wickmayer, Flipkens and Hercog) in a row.

Niculescu and Flipkens are still playing, they're in the final set now.

Yes she really should play some more doubles this year. Doesnt she play with Cornet at the AO?
Anyway, Mona seems to be focussed to improve the little weaknesses in her game which especially occured during the second half of the last season. In the end i think she needs two more years to really reach her peak level.

I think exactly the same. There is still so much room for improvment in her game (Her FH, footwork, defence and her intensity/competitiveness on court). I feel she can improve in all these aspects I mentioned and I hope she does in the next 2/3 years. Let's give her time.
However, I can't see her improving much without a coach. That's for sure. I think when Mona gets enough money, she will get a coach hopefully. Let's not forget she was sleeping in tents 2/3 years a go.

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
Good win for Mona!
Couldn´t see it yet but seems like 2nd set was good at least, too many ups and downs in 1st set again but that is typical for Mona
Now against Flipkens, tough match but Mona had her chances in Quebec already, hope that she can win it this time.
Flipkens has the annoying slice and a good serve but Mona has the bigger weapons, I just hope that she doesn´t make too many UEs again, anyway 2 SFs already in 2013, good start

Re: Mona Barthel - Volume 2
Flipkens will be much tougher for sure. She is a smart player and can play all around tennis. Her slice will trouble Mona probably. She has a better FH than Mona too so she probably will win most of FH to FH rallies (unless Mona is on fire).
