Watched from 4-4 in the 2nd. She did the break just to close the set.
Monica had good moments and bad moments also in the 3rd.
Being tenacious she won after all. 
Simona, Irina etc should watch her closely maybe they will learn something. |

I'm just happy Monica is back to win those marathon matches again. She could barely win any 3 set match last year on the Tour without being blown off rather easily in the end.

Lost 6-2 4-6 0-6
Completely ran out of gas in the end, but not surprising giving her scedule before this match.
She should make the best out of it and recover. She has a R3 to defend at the AO, therefore winning one match at least would be important and as we've seen last year, she really has to be in good physical shape to compete there.

A lucky R1 would be very pleased to come and then you know, with the current level of top 20, just by avoiding those 3-4 big names you can go far

Just great for the Romanians that the player producing lights-out tennis meets the World #1 first round! So, so, bad! 
All you can hope for is that Azarenka wilts a bit in the heat, and Monica keeps up the pressure! H2h it's 4-0 Azarenka. The good thing is that Monica's warm-up results will compensate for the third round points she's apt to lose.
