Peak Mona - match against Larsson and the second set against Wickmayer -)
Sorry, I can`t deal with this expression. It really depends on your opponent and whether he can challenge you to do something very special. She has in nearly every match some spectacular shots.
The second set against Wickmayer was great, but I still admire most her fabulous shotmaking and amazing points in these high-speed rallies in her match against Azarenka at Stuttgart.
Yeah, at least winning on a bad day is a good sign for Mona.
Yes you are completely right!
And i think its always difficult to immediately play again after a midnight match. I hope she will use the day of rest to regain her form again which she showed during the last two sets against Barty. Then i am quite optimistic that she can make it to the final.
No matter the outcome for her in this tournament i am happy that she starts winning matches again on a regular basis.
What does "peak Mona" mean ?
She was playing pretty relaxed after the first set yesterday and completely dominated the match without doing something very special.
Therefore she would have needed an adequate opponent and not the very young Barty who actually was no challenge for Mona.
Imo, her performance was fine in the second and third set.
'peak' Mona = Mona playing at 100%, the best she can. And yesterday she was playing at 30% maybe
But yesterday she didnt even have to play well, she didnt need to, she played against a 12 y.o teenager
You probably watched the worthiest of the match then.
So.. I see that she was down in both sets and has managed to save a double break-point in the last game.. She usually loses this kind of matches. Good sign that she has won

Well, I hope we can at least agree on the fact that she won the match, what is the most important thing about the whole .

She would have won against Azarenka in Stuttgart without these 16 double faults and her very low first serve percentage (i think it was about only 40 %).
Yeah, being able to win ugly is quite important because you can't always be at 100% and that's what also makes the difference between good players and top players.
The problem with Mona is that she's like never at 100%
