I was just at the airport dropping my sister off for her flight to Germany and I saw Lucie arrive here!

she's still working with Biljana because she got off the flight with Lucie.

I'm heading out to the tournament today so hopefully I get to see Lucie practice...but gates don't open until 9:45 and she usually hits early

Lucie's year starts with a tough draw in Brisbane:

(1)Victoria Azarenka (BLR) v BYE
Sabine Lisicki (GER) v Lucie Safarova (CZE)
Urszula Radwanska (POL) v Tamira Paszek (AUT)
Q v (8)Caroline Wozniacki (DEN)

She has a tricky opener against Sabine. She's 1-all against her, but Sabine won their last match. Lucie's never beaten her on a hard court.

Sabine's coming off a terrible year, so Lucie has a chance here.

Terrible draw.

She's won one set in her six matches against Azarenka so I can't see her getting past the second round...

Shocking draw

typical. Same place in the draw she was in last year too. I watched her practice twice today and she was better again than yesterday, and she was beating Ula Radwanska easily. Lisicki was hitting on the court next to her but I didn't really watch. Her games looks good...we'll see.

She would have had a chance for a better week if she entered Auckland or even that new event in China. I really would like to see her enter a fair amount of Tier III's (Internationals) this year. She has good results in some of these bigger tournaments but I feel she would win more titles if she was entered in the smaller ones.

In other news, this thread is FINALLY almost at vol 2 after almost nine years.

Its funny prior to Lucie I was a Dementieva fan and she would go through at least one volume a year. Come on postwhores!

She would probably lose to a random tbh. There's no point tournament whoring internationals, because as a top 20 player she needs to be playing against other top players
