2nd round is either U.Rad or Tamira Paszek then QF is Vika and SF is Serena (according to Caroswrist)

Ugh. I don't like my favorites drawing qualifers to start off a tournament as they've had a few matches to get used to the conditions.  That it would be Caro's 1st singles match of the year makes it more problematic.
Why Ula instead of Paszek?

Why? As it stands now, Caro would likely get a beatdown and if that doesn't happen it would probably be one of those frustrating headcase losses.

Well it's the best draw Caro could have hoped for. No draw is easy after last year. I'd like to see a Vika-Caro match to gauze how she is against the current world number one.

Maybe so but I find it hard to muster much enthusiasm for such a match given the probable outcome.

That really shouldn't be said of a top 10 player. The majority of the top 10 doesn't go through all these struggles against players ranked a lot ranked than them.
It's time for Caro to start beating these much lower ranked players in a more convincing fashion and not just squeak by or worse lose to them.

It's inevitable that she would have had to play one of the top players if she goes far, no matter what the draw looked like. Caro had a good end of 2012. If she can now also win a few matches before meeting Vika she will at least have some confidence going into the match. But I'm not worried about Vika at this point. First thing's first - just win the match against that qualifier and we'll go from there.

The Brisbane doubles draw is out and Caro isn't in it. Given that she hasn't played a Wta match in a couple of months, doulbes could be a nice way to get some extra match play and work on her net game as well.
I don't get why she doesn't play doubles anymore. She used to play them on a semi-regular basis. It's not like she's going really deep in singles most weeks these days.

Oh, and a Woz-Vika match is what I hope for as well.
