Re: Eddie Herr 18s F: Ana Konjuh (14 y.o.) def. Barbara Haas 6-1 6-1
This week this 14-year old girl won Orange Bowl beating on her way to the title number 1 and 2: Townsend and Siniakova! Amazing!

It'd be exciting if Ana breaks out like Maria did in 2002-2004 period.

Anett and Yulia, plus Donna last year. Victoria Kan in the past etc.
There weren't many Eastern Europeans in the Draw this year
And Siniakova made the finals

Pardon me, but Croatia and Czech Republic are not in Eastern Europe
Czech Republic is located between Germany, Poland and Austria, if that's in Eastern Europe
Croatia is right near Italy, neighbor to Hungary and Serbia to the East and even ~ 1000 kilometers west to the middle of Romania, and Romania is not an Eastern Europe country (Southeastern at best )

Romania is definitely eastern Europe. Croatia and Czech Republic, while being closer to central Europe, are still considered part of eastern Europe.

Not according to wikipedia or to my personal knowledge or to geography Seriously, maybe Romania is close to the East and you can call it an Eastern European country, but Czech Republic is exactly in the center of Europe, while Croatia is in the same axis, just some hundreds of kilometers to the south.

In English, Western and Eastern Europe have political meanings as well as geographic meanings. For most people the terms are still tied to the Cold War-era separation of Europe.

That's true, but my statements were solely geographical, not geopolitical

Re: Eddie Herr 18s F: Ana Konjuh (14 y.o.) def. Barbara Haas 6-1 6-1
I meant politically and geographically
Like these countries have a strong Indoor Hard and Clay Court tradition, therefore Green Clay is the best surface
Geographically and Politically are different:
E.G. Czech Republic is Geographically central and Politically East
Estonia is Geographically Easy but Politically Scandinavian
Also IMO, for tennis Central Europe and Eastern Europe are moulded into one

Everyone but the Eastern Geographical European themselves consider Czech and Slovakia are Eastern European countries.
We do categorize your countries in political way.
