Married 30 June 1953 at London during The Championships, when she was 23.
The husband's identity is now uncertain, because at the back of the photo of her marriage there is written that the husband was Ludolf Brinski, a former polish farmer, who has lived in Switzerland for the past nine years.
So... he was Ludolf von Alvensleben, Ludolf Brinski, or Ludolf Brinski von Alvensleben?
After the marriage Violette played as von Alvensleben

Married October 10, 1934 in Brookline, Massachuesetts.
From the New York Times
And I can confirm that Rigollet played as Von Alvensleben after marriage-not sure why husband had different names, though I can put out a guess.
Perhaps he was a German living in Poland. Millions of Germans were forced out of modern day Poland after the war, and those who stayed behind often adopted Polish sounding names. So perhaps he was just reassuming his German name?

Exciting find Jimbo! This was only 2 days after war was declared. I think we can date the marriage to July 1939, as the New York Times indicated she was "a bride of a month".

Re: The Official Married Names Thread
I have the following for Helen Marlowe:
Quote:
MARLOWE, HELEN
United States
Born 1911 in Shoshone, Idaho, US
Died 24 July 1947 in Los Angeles, US
Married William “Bill” Joseph Dimitrijevic* (1909-1981) between October 1932 and early 1933-divorced by 1941, when she is once again using her maiden name.
Married name sometimes rendered as Dmitrijevic. Her husband a US Naval Academy Grad.
Helen was a graduate of the University of Southern California. Still married in 1936 when she played in the Phillipines-presumably her husband stationed there. After the divorce he remarried a Gwendolyn Windsor.
In 1933 the married Helen beat Alice Marble in a Southern Californai match lasting more than 3 hours. She enlisted in in the US Marine Corps in 1943 and optained the rank of Captain. Ill for a year before her early death.

As my 1911 is an estimate it is highly likely your exact date is correct Jimbo.

Hi Mark,
you forgot to add some old info by Rollo:
"Originally posted by Rollo:
Newspaper reports from 1918 are also listing her as Yeager. She was still Yeager (or Yager) as of early July in 1918.
From 1930 Census records and Heritage Quest I have gathered the following:
She was born Born c 1892 or 1893 in Missouri-parents born in New York.
Her spouse was Jack Alfred Rameson (1874-1944)
Sons Jack (b 3 Dec 1919) and Fred circa 1921. There were other young Rameson's in the household much older, presumably Adelaide's stepchildren.
There is a Jack A Rameson III who is a probate lawyer. Odds are he is Adelaide's grandchild. Perhaps he could give us full details if someone wants to contact him."
Now I think to have found her maiden name (and other info).
The NYT December 22, 1918 writes of her as Mrs. Jack Rameson, so we can put her marriage on late 1918 (their first son born a year later).
http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive...89D95F4C8185F9
I have found her grave, where she is Adelaide Rameson Taylor
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=73431759
In 1911 in the Western Champs. there was an Adelaide Taylor runner-up in Doubles...
http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=430168
In 1912 there is Adelaide Chatfield Taylor RU in the Florida State Champs.
http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=430170
and Chatfield could be the second name of Adelaide, as a C. is in this Census record:
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/s...gss=seo&ghc=20
(where there is also a record with an A. instead of C., and where her husband seems born in 1877 instead of 1874, but it could be an error)
(in 1913 a Mrs Yager appears first time, in the Missouri Valley Doubles Championship:
http://www.tennisforum.com/showthrea...=432055&page=2
so we can put her first marriage circa 1913)
In confirmation that this Adelaide Rameson Taylor is our tennis player, the cemetery plot is the same for her, her husband Rameson, and their first son:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=71950536
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=71950655
So, we have now these info:
ADELAIDE (CHATFIELD?) TAYLOR
United States
Born 1892
Died 9 December 1973
Married (1) W.W.Yager, circa late 1912 or early 1913
Married (2) Jack Alfred Rameson, Sr. (1874-1944), circa late 1918
