It was one over 30 that dominated 2012 and as much as I like Daniela you can't compare the two at all.

And she needs to sort her head out, and that is the hardest thing to solve for a tennis player.

She has had a few 'funky' seasons not just one.

i dont think shes that crazy.. lets be honest, theres two wide open spots at the top 10 these days.. a good run, backed with one or two wins over say.. wozniacki, errani, stosur, kvitova or na li, and she will have a shot

top 10 is packed with players like Kvitova, Stosur and Wozniacki.... that's the main obstacle on her way to top 10, because there are enough players in WTA who are a lock in top 10 , probably with 1 vacant place, taken by Errani in 2012

Not really, other than Errani...

With Wozniacki losing her top seed positions from 2012, she will have much tougher draws the coming season.

Stosur has been a headcase in 2012, won no tournaments and barely hang in there. Since the win from US Open she has been hitting the walls everywhere. Losing to players like Chang is a new low for her.

Also if Kvitova and Li Na does not sort their inconsistencies out, they may well fall off the Top 10 if they are not careful. There are many players in the 11-30 that can snatch the spots.

The 2012 Top 5 are pretty much a lock for 2013 Top 10, barring injuries. It's just that, Hantuchova is not really a powerful candidate to snatch the other 5 spots.

Though, if Hantuchova can lose to random players in the latter half of 2012, couple months after coming back from injury, I doubt she can get back to Top 10 again. She has so many points to defend the first half of the year, hanging in Top 50 is probably the best she can do till the clay season. That's if she does not get injured again.

I'm not sure she'll make it back to the top 10 but at the same time I'm not sure what else she's supposed to say or aim for at this point. As a former top 5 player it's not like the reaction would be any better if she had said she would rather just sit back with mediocre results and hover between 30-40.

As a professional athlete she should be aiming high unless she's just there to accept 1st round prize money and maintain her bank account. She might not achieve top 10 status again but there's nothing wrong with it being a goal of her's. It isn't like she bashed the current top 10 or said that she believes she's way better than she is so I'm not sure where all of these vitriolic responses are coming from. If this is what motivates her to work hard in the off-season and through next year then good on her.

Unlikely, but not COMPLETELY impossible. It's not like she ever depended on movement or fitness anyway, so the ageing process probably has less impact for her than for other players.
