Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Let's hope for Monica that the rumours about the new Indoor Hard Premier in Katowice during clay season are true.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Well, Monica is usually eating players like Minella with wonky technique on their strokes for breakfast and with a coffee cup in one hand.
Next year is going to be good.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
And it was indoors, Monica only loses to the likes of Vika and Venus on that surface

She lost to the former glorious name of "Venus Williams".

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
Despite ending it strongly, overall Monica had a disappointing 2012, falling out of the Top 50, where she had been in 2011.
2012 58
2011 30
She'd like to right her ship quickly, as she has 160 points to defend at the Australian Open.
Here's her Shenzhen draw:
Robson v Hall
Zheng v Niculescu
Espinosa v Chang
Q v Jankovic
It's a good thing she chose this tournament over Auckland this year, as the Zheng she will meet in her draw is Saisai, not Jie. (Jie, the Auckland champion, dumped her out of Auckland last year, 0 & 2.)
This is a great draw for her, and with Jankovic on the downturn of her career, Monica has the great opportunity to make a SF.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu
It's not Jie it's Saisai !
I want her to beat Robson in R2 so that TF explodes

Yeah, it's Saisai also known as the Great pusher of the East, so Romania's first 4 hour marathon match will already be set this week.
My first thought when I saw the draw to be honest...

Good luck Monica !
I hope she somehow improved her serving in the off-season.
Edina Gallovits with Robson. Interesting.
