Re: 2012 National Indoors
Not a bad tournament for California teams. Singles finalists(3 of 4 semifinalists),
Doubles winner and semifinalist, Consolation dbls finalist.
UVA again sends their players into the finals after WAATC. Lost dbls but won cons. dbls.
Sanchez-Quintanar wins cons. sgls, beating Guarachi.

Re: 2012 National Indoors
A little more than a year ago Krista nearly double bageled Robin at the National and now Robin wins a slam and Krista loses to Sofie
The only player who advanced to quarterfinal in 2 slams this season is Brynn Boren. If she could do that feat again at NCAA..only Juricova did that recently(she advanced to Semifinal like 6 in a row )
Bolded are the new faces;
2012 WAATC (Embree)
ELBABA NIEDERMAYEROVA SCANDALIS HARDEBECK BOREN EMBREE LAO KOWASE
2012 NIIC (Anderson)
SUSANYI SANTAMARIA BOREN ANDERSON HERRING OYEN MAR SCHUTTING

Re: 2012 National Indoors
I didn't see the matches... shocking that UVA didn't get a game in dubs finals!

I always thought that Oyen was more of a finese player (only saw her play once I believe), more of a slice and dice crafty player but in the first set she just overpowered Hardabeck. Oyen hit winners and dictated play. Hardabeck seemed slow and never really seem to get into rhythm. In the first set, I thought she was just asleep and going to make a comeback but that never materialized. Rance Brown commented on her serve "She's had so many lessons and it still looks like that." To which Robin (who is a sweetheart) said it looks slightly better.

But did Krista's serve actually let her down? I feel like her serve got better at WAATC.

So, they can aim for the GRAND SLAM if they win the NCAA! Did any women team achieve this?

Nope, no team had ever even won the first two legs until now. Well, Teri Whitlinger did in 1989 but with two different partners.

Oh thx. I guess winning both outdoor and indoor events isn't that easy.
KK is already NCAA semi finalist on her freshman year with Sanchez, but hope she does better?
I hope they meet MICH team again for a revenge match (They lost to them, a shocking upset at this year's NCAA)

Re: 2012 National Indoors
fantic, how will performance in the fall affect rankings, esp since they don't come out until January, I believe?

How? Naturally players who did well in the Fall will get good rankings?
I'm not a ranking expert, maybe gouci or others might provide better info
I guess Robin will be #1? Since Gibbsy and Trice didn't play singles so far..
Dbls #1? Need you ask?

Re: 2012 National Indoors
Unnecessary bump but Tan/Tsay lost to Columbia's Sanon and Takenaga.
OMG This is so awesome.
Tears of happiness.
Can I please go to Columbia, too?
