Re: Solange Knowles - Losing You
Solange's "True" EP is available to download now on iTunes.
It is a truly gorgeous set of songs
"Some Things Never Seem To F**king Work", "Lovers In The Parking Lot" and "Locked In Closets" are pure lushness.
I loved Hadley Street Dreams and now with this EP, Solange is becoming a big favourite of mine

Re: Solange Knowles - "True" EP out now
The two songs I have heard sound good
. I like the late-90s early 2000s feel of "Lover's in the Parking Lot" and the fact that she (apparently) does not feel the need to realize club-banging Europop music about dancing and getting drunk
. Plus, Hadley Street Dreams is a really good album.

Some songs give me Aaliyah-esque vibes

This is amazing...one of my songs of the year
"Remember when you kissed me, at Jimmie John's when I was 17"
(Think we all know Solange was doing more than just "kissing" at that age
)

I've been getting the same vibe. I first noticed she was inspired by Aaliyah on the "turn my music up" intro for "I Decided."

I just ADORE this performance
Looks like a Donna Summer performance from 1976. The dance breakdown at the end with Dev is too cute
Just criminal how Solange continues to fly under the radar when she is so good.

Solo tries to hard to be different. It must be nice to ride the coattails of your famous sister.

Beyonce wishes she could ever write a song as good as "Losing You" - heh.

I really love the new EP...heavily influenced by New Wave music but also combines indie pop and r&b. The lyrics are great as well.
It's encouraging to see someone with as many opportunities/options as Solange doing her own thing and going the indie route.

I don't think it is processed...it sounds the same as her performance on JF. She's just singing in a different tone.
